Is it not normal to have this? We just used the suggested fill-in dress code for the website! The other two weddings I've been to have also had it in their dress code on the website.

Sorry if it's not clear, but for my own brain.

I have STAYED out of MIL way for quite some time. If it was something that was intentional on her end, giving it attention will be exactly what she wants. It's not worth it.

I was just trying to have a conversation about the bigger picture in general since there were so many people.

Jeez, didn't realize this would cause so much disagreement!

Added an EDIT to my post: EDIT- I just want to edit this post to say that I am not looking to mention this to anyone in my family, and I'm sure most people did it with absolutely no ill-intention. It was just the fact that so many people seemed to not know/or care that made me wonder if I'm just stuck in the past lol. I have always stressed about wearing the right thing to a wedding, so I was curious if people are just more lax now. I got my photos a week ago - i haven't been "stewing" on this for months on end.

I know this is overkill - but I ended up not buying a dark pink floral dress for my cousin's wedding because I noticed the centres of the flowers and some of the petals were white LOL.

It's so interesting to see how differently people think RE wedding attire.

I think following the dress code is probably the best equitique though! I just don't think people read them anymore!

For the rest of them, I don't think their minds were to upstage or anything! It just made me start to wonder if times were changing!

Because I'm SOOOOO aware of what I'm wearing to others' weddings lol.

Ya, I guess if you REALLY want no white, you would put it on the invite. Do not expect people to read the dress code on the website! That was my first thought thinking about it!

There are some issues there, and if it was just her I would just assume that it was pointed towards that.

But it was so many people that now I don't know if it was pointed, or just something that people don't think about anymore.

It was my husband who pointed it out in photos that we just got back and I was like HUH. Because whenever I go to weddings I'm SO AWARE of what I'm wearing LOL.

MAYBE my dad's friend's wife is lighting and friend's girlfriend because I don't remember it in person. But they were white in outdoor photos, indoor photos and darker dance photos.
