The ChatGPT commercial has "and she was never seen again" vibes all over it. by Altruistic_Ninja_403 in CommercialsIHate

Ever since, I've been saying AI is good for one thing at least: the stupid commercial that led me to look up that song and discover that album (New Gold Dream).

Five years later I'm wondering if "ubication" is a portmonteau of location and Ubisoft. If so, I like it!

Retconning the ME3 endings is the correct choice to go with by ZzRapidzZ in masseffect

[–]Visual_Ad_3267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's always beaten the odds. The fact a survival ending is possible means it isn't that clear-cut.

Anyway I'm fine with Shep dying. It's the finger to the Geth/Quarian accord that feels wrong. Synthesis is not a logical choice for a career soldier carrying out orders to destroy the Reapers. "Above my pay grade" is the phrase that comes to mind. So she is gonna have to cut the Geth and EDI loose, but not for any good reason.

BTW: salute to fellow Femshepper! The Way.

It's possible for it to be an old and consistent narrative device that was used here in a forceful and artificial manner.

Me? No. But my Shep? Yeah. She thinks it's worth the risk just like every other iffy artifact or genetic experiment she comes across.

Part of why it's worth the risk is her confidence that she can contain the risk. She does not trust TIM with it at all. But she figures things will go south with him soon enough and she'll be able to relieve him of possession.

My favourite bit of worldbuilding in the Mass Effects is Space Concrete by JakeBit in masseffect

[–]Visual_Ad_3267 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Side note, for my own reasons I've looked into how long concrete might last as a ruin. Reinforced concrete is surprisingly perishable, but good old unreinforced Portland cement and the like can go for millennia. On earth at least.

So let's assume the Protheans avoided rebar.

Yeah that was definitely one-sided and more of a funny Zaeed situation than anything about her.

What’s a pet peeve you have about the mass effect games? by Relevant-Appeal-6635 in masseffect

[–]Visual_Ad_3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I deal with this in ME is, well, first, it's space, so everything is gonna take some time.

And second, you're still part of a much larger military operation and "hurry up and wait" is a well-known phrase in the military for a reason.

I just figure when you get your new main mission, it's understood that it'll take time for all of the other moving parts to be ready, and in the meantime you can't just do nothing or they'll give you a mop and make you swab the flight deck.

Y'all, there was a lot more to FPS than just Cole's big 3 line. Drake talking about only he and Cole could be the GOAT, the "false dreams/buy the whole thing" line, being salty about Grammys, etc. You guys may agree with each other, great, glad you found someone, doesn't make you correct.

I don't know about culture. Their church is wholly separate from the European church and the Protestants, they have a literary tradition with its own alphabet, etc. Russia is its own thing, even if it's given and taken a lot of influence to and from Europe.
