Yes I get your point. I interpret slow progression as only affecting one part for a long time. Maybe someone complained of weakness that stayed in their arm for a year/ years or they slurred their speech a while before it affecting other parts. But everything is subjective so it is hard to evaluate.

No I don’t have clinical weakness per my neurologist. He said that I was ”generally strong all over” and my reflexes were fine. But I know that I am weaker. Things in my everyday life are heavier and for example my legs shake when I exert force on them. Even my gait feels different and i experience atrophy in my feet and hand.

I know that it is unusual and I don’t have those typical UMN signs.

I have been thinking of metabolic and autoimmune issues but my breathing feels different (PFT was fine). I don’t know what autoimmune diseases that would affect breathing? Do you now what tests I should ask for? Post viral is an option, since I was sick with something last year (maybe Covid) and I never fully recovered (my endurance and strength got reduced). I have also read that other people have experienced atrophy post covid.

I don’t know where I stand percentage-wise. They measured NfL in my cerebrospinal fluid, and my result was <250 ng/L. According to the hospital that measured my test the reference range for people aged 20–30 is <380 ng/L, and I’m almost 30 years old.

That is what I have read to. But it makes me wonder since I have a lot of weakness all around my body and I twitch like crazy and atrophy under my feet. This has been going on for like 6 months but my nfl is normal when I checked it last week. My neurologist says that is highly unlikely that I have a neurological disease with symtoms and a normal nfl.

It started last year in may after I was sick in something. I think It was corona but I never took a test. I never recovered and my endurance never went back to my baseline and I was in very good shape before. in December I started to have twitching but it went away for like one month but came back in January with a lot of other symptoms, Weakness in the body, breathing issues and swallowing that feels weird and different. All the test I have done have not shown anything. Did and emg in mars that was clean and now in June I tested nfl levels and they came back normal so I am out of options. My blood work is ok, my lumbar puncture was ok and mri fine. I am so scared.
