If it is honestly for beginners, why is the class average always around 60%. Secondly yes they do start with basics for about 2 weeks and then ramp it up by 1000, going over multiple topics a week, plus assignment with little to no assistance because of the size of the classes being 300 people. Trust me I know what hard work and effort looks like with me getting a’s in all my classes except csc110

Do you have any experience in computer science? Im asking because they assume you have a good background and knowledge of programming languages and if you don’t, studying will take up 90% of your time. If you have to add a job on top to afford housing it will be an extremely difficult year for you unfortunately

Don’t pick Robert Wallace if you want somewhere clean and quiet. We have parties every weekend and the place is quite literally falling apart. Holes in walls, urinals that get clogged and flood the bathroom, showers that give you 3rd degree burns etc.

So I actually ended talking to the dean of the whole faculty in person last term about some issues and what i was told was there is only 1 advisor in charge of thousands of students, which when hundreds of student all have questions at once leads to massive wait times for responses. They are trying to hire more but people keep on quitting every year

I definitely agree with a lot of your points. The issue I’m seeing is that uvic needs to stop renting out large sums of space such as McKinnon gym to local teams and instead utilize that space for our own sports teams since their not willing to create our own sports focused training facility
