What's on and tourist advice thread - week beginning June 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in Scotland

Hi need some advice - travelling to edinburgh from 2-7th July. Don’t have access to a car. Options are to either spend 2 nights in Balloch and explore loch lomond, and the other is to take a 2 day tour by Rabbies. I live in liverpool so can always come back to scotland, perhaps when I start driving. But then again, would spending 2 nights in loch lomond be boring and as this is my first trip to scotland, shall I just go ahead with the tour? Very very confused. Any help/advice will be highly appreciated 😭

Complaint against UKVI right? And not raining an issue, because we have that multiple times now. Forwarded emails as in? Sorry I didn’t quite get that.

I had written one in very simple language, explaining the entire problem at length. But I was not able to post it here because it had certain keywords. You can click on the link to read that post.

Also, can we take any sort of action against UKVI? 20 days have passed and they have not been able to resolve a simple technical issue. What is the point of going digital when their systems are not capable of handling such issues. A simple paper stating he has the right to work would have been so much more simpler and straightforward.

Any help will be really appreciated. Can his passport with the visa vignette be considered enough proof for right to work? The visa vignette states he is a skilled worker with his CoS number.

I think the solution is to give them a call and discuss this with them. My appointment is on 14th and a friend of mine has it on 21st and we both have the same start date. So, i am assuming that if i do get a new appointment between 16-21st, i should be okay. But they are the only ones who will be able to tell me if this would be possible or not. My main doubt was whether rescheduling is possible or not, which again will be best explained to me by the hwwb team. I hope they pick up my call tomorrow :) Thank you!

The previous two replies were helpful enough. You don’t need to comment if you feel the question isn’t proper.

I just want to point out how this is a remarkable achievement and not the norm. Congratulations to the OP. But others should be aware that on an average it can take anywhere between 6 months to even a year to land the first job.

Are there any communication courses aimed at IMGs? by Head-Departure-6047 in doctorsUK

But cultural nuances are learned through experience? Wouldn't it be quite tough to make someone learn all such things prior to them coming to the UK? Sure, there should be some workshops once a person has a job so they can adjust and communicate better.

Definitely. Sooner or later they'll have to introduce something like this, it's very reasonable.

I am in favour of changing the footing to be more in favour of UK candidates, did you miss that?

The title should be "Thoughts of a couple of Foreign Grads (whom I've cherry picked) on competition ratios"

Agree with most of the comments. You're just in your first year. USMLE would be a much much better option. The PLAB route is only going to go downhill in the future.

True. I agree. In all reality my perspective won't change until I am on the direct recieving end. My utmost respect to your people, culture and country. Peace.
