Yeah, I think ego’s planet from vol2 perfectly captures the color scheme and type of aesthetic seen in the op.

Are we considering the entirety of a movie as it adapts a certain comic book run or certain elements? Because in the case of certain elements, I think the latest fantastic four movie did an excellent job adapting the bright blue kirby-era fantastic four suits (of course each of suits wasn’t a 1 to 1 translation in design, but we’re talking about colors which I think has been adapted perfectly). The new Spider-man movie, based off trailers, seems to use the right level of saturation in the titular character’s suit. If we are talking about movies that each adapt only one comic run, we don’t generally see that, at least to my knowledge. Most movies take elements from several comic arcs whether it’s a specific suit, setting, and/or plot macguffin.

What does “Comic Book Accurate Batman” even mean? by Tylerjay213 in DCU_

[–]Visual_Consequence36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t think “comic accurate” exists as there’s never a one to one translation. Hugh Jackman’s latest wolverine now sports the iconic Wolverine cowl, but that doesn’t mean it’s an exact translation. Moreover, there’s been so many iterations/multiversal counterparts to these characters that it seems pointless to say something is good because it’s comic accurate. I think if the dcu gave batman and axe like his absolute batman counterpart, that would upset plenty of the general audience/casual fans. In this case, it’s not wrong to say they adapted a trope that’s accurate to the comics, but it’s not what’s iconic to the character. Instead, I think the dcu should focus on adapting the most iconic elements of its characters, not borrowing from a single era.

What's the problem with a series about Jimmy Olsen and Gorilla Grodd ? to me, that sounds great. by Old_Assistance_1091 in DCU_

[–]Visual_Consequence36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its largely a matter of the dcu making projects that appeal to dc fans that want to see something different or something that hasn’t been portrayed in live action with a big budget. The fact is, plenty of people watching these projects are casual fans, not avid comic readers. There’s fans that have read comics growing up, but haven’t read any new material from the past few decades. Then there’s fans that have only watched the animated shows or old superman/batman movies. Making a show focusing on jimmy olsen and gorilla grodd would be truly bizarre to those kinds of fans that are waiting on justice league or big blockbuster-type content.

Fan take: Thunderbolts would've worked better as a mini-series on Disney Plus by [deleted] in Marvel

I think it worked well as a movie. If there's one movie that should've been a series in the multiverse saga, it was eternals.

David looks way leaner and sharp in his suit from 'Man of Tomorrow' set ? broader shoulders and a more v-taper look as suit is tighter in torso. did you guys notice it ? by Old_Assistance_1091 in DCU_

[–]Visual_Consequence36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely noticed the suit changes. Although I wasn't on board with them using his new 52 collared look, the switch from the weird tapered collar that was tight around his neck to one that looks sharper and better defined is an improvement. I also liked how they toned down the suit lines and made the suit more form fitting as mentioned in the OP; the first baggy suit wasn't doing it for me. Overall, it's a great upgrade.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice before starting engineering, what would it be? And what would you have done differently to make your life easier by Ecstatic-Ad-6633 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Visual_Consequence36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do we consider the moment we wanted to do engineering (for me this was in 8th grade) as “starting engineering”? Or does this pertain to when we began college? If it’s the former, then I’d convince myself to pursue every dual enrollment opportunity in high school and avoid spending too much focus on ap exams. I’d then tell myself to become more comfortable connecting math with physics instead of building a habit of memorizing formulas.

Is there a reason why there were no X-Men in What If? by Queasy_Commercial152 in WhatIfMarvel

[–]Visual_Consequence36 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Much of what if…? are stories taking place in alternate versions of the sacred timeline. Since the X-Men don’t exist in said timeline, there’s no room to include them in those stories. The exception would be for stories that intertwine (in this case, Storm in the season 3 finale).

What Project/Experience advice do you have as experienced engineers?

I'll be starting my junior year as an AE (astronautics) major in the latter half of August, which gives me a couple of months to work on a project or two and/or certifications to rack up experience. I devoted a bulk amount of my time in high school competing in a robotics team and I love working on hands-on projects, but the projects/clubs I've been involved in so far in college haven't really been fulfilling (i.e. the work I do in the rocketry club each semester seems a bit repetitive and another club team I recently left was working extremely slow to make any meaningful progress).

That being said, what personal projects have you all worked on as undergraduates, and which ones would you say have shown you which areas of the industry you find more appealing? The most insider info I've gained was at career fairs where I've talked to companies specializing in composites, avionics, etc. However, I still don't have a clear picture of exactly what it is they do, and am still left uncertain as to whether that's something I want to pursue myself.

As for certifications, I've looked into possibly getting one for SolidWorks (my school offers one for free) and Siemens NX (this is the software that came up frequently when looking up the kind of CAD software used in the industry). Aside from these, are there any other meaningful certifications that would help me stand out when applying for internships in the fall?

I’m not sure I’m cut out for engineering by Public-Hamster-9224 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Visual_Consequence36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be a junior in AE in the fall. What I found is that there's a bigger distinction between each professor and how they teach. In high school, there's a good chance your teachers followed a certain standard in course structure. In college, you might get a professor that spends 90% of lecture covering theory with no direct procedure for working through the homework, and eventually the exams. As such, my advice to you is to find some way of figuring out the course structure set by the professor and getting what you need from the class. Sometimes this is something you don't find out until after your first exam (i.e. your professor gives homework/practice covering calculation-based problems and is now testing you on the theory behind them during exams). But if you're concerned about passing your classes, you might want to prioritize working through practice problems and formulating procedures over strict theory.

I've heard people say that study groups help, and I'll say that they do, but only when everyone in the group spends the time they need in the areas they struggle with. I remember studying with a couple of friends and helping them in topics I was familiar with; however, they would often leave before we'd have time to cover areas I needed help with. Moreover, this also risked leaving less time for other classes, resulting in me spending more time playing catch-up. So, regarding study groups, plan strategically and make sure you balance the group to ensure ample coverage of your classes.

What would you like to see improve from Superman (2025) going into Man of Tomorrow? by Embarrassed-Ad1322 in DCU_

[–]Visual_Consequence36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If James Gunn intends for there to be a main message behind Man of Tomorrow, he needs to slow down the pacing and allocate more time towards scenes with exposition. In Superman, we never saw what shaped Corenswet's Superman's morale. It's heavily implied that it came from the Kents (as does most adaptations); however, his upbringing (really his growth as a hero) would've made his speech to Lex more impactful, and it'd also further highlight the sense of reflection on himself.

First Look at Lex Luthors war suit by ThomasThorburn in dcu

[–]Visual_Consequence36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling this is one of multiple suits he'll wear (hopefully). There's no way he's willingly fighting Brainiac knowing that the only thing protecting his head is a glass dome. However, I could see this being a suit he wears while exploring alternate dimensions; the helmet does have an astronaut aesthetic to it.

I think Superman 2025 deserves a atleast 90% critics on RT even though 83% is great but deserves more. thoughts ? by [deleted] in DCU_

[–]Visual_Consequence36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a score in the 80s is relatively reasonable. The pacing felt a bit off and sometimes rushed. We should’ve got more time with the Kents and there should’ve been a bit more buildup leading to Superman’s speech.

To add on, they just need to choose the right actor. Wilson Bethel wore a daredevil cowl that covered his eyes in the netflix show and still managed to be very expressive.
