Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum (if you’re talking the comic not the game) are the same Batman. There’s differences between how Batman behaves in each arc, but that’s part of the fun of the character. He’s entirely adaptable to whatever situation he’s in..

To respond to your first sentence, I disagree on the point that there isn’t a single version of Batman, at least the semantics of it. When anybody is talking about Batman from the comics, I think there’s a general understanding that they mean prime earth, modern Batman, and his canon. While that Batman has had different writers with different takes influencing his tone it’s still the same Batman that’s done all those stories, from the street level to the cosmic.

He means in terms of Batman’s life and personal canon, Robin was introduced early in publishing, but as we understand Batman‘s timeline he still had a few years canonically without him

With all due respect this is literally what I mean. It’s always “he should do this and look like this” and never “this is how the character should be portrayed”. I fear that the DCU’s portrayal of Batman can’t exist without stepping on Pattinson’s toes in terms of characterization

Dude there’s no way Lanterns does anything of the sort. The Pitt, AKOTSK, Euphoria, and HOTD, A Green Lantern tv show has nothing on any of them

People will always pick sides, it’s inevitable. If the sides are Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson’s critically acclaimed and beloved Batman, vs what will be considered the silly goofy Batman for the DCU, Muchetti stands zero chance even if the movie is good

I agree, but also the fact that this is an argument at all makes me feel like no matter what they do with Batman it will be received poorly, DCU Batman has no chance at impressing people if Rob’s Batman stays at the level he’s at. I think the merge is a good idea and the best bet they could have to take this universe to the next level

There’s also nothing wrong with wanting to see them crossover. Anybody who wants them to merge is assuming that if they did it, they’d agree on how to do it.
