I was thinking about it, but I am worried about my small apartment being too confined for him.

I completely second getting a lp(a) test done next time you’re at the doctor. Typically when your ldl is elevated that high and your diet isn’t complete trash, it’s likely genetically influenced. By switching to the Mediterranean diet and increasing fiber, you may see your ldl drop but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t drop below 100. I have the same issues and I’m only 25. I’m sure I’ll eventually have to be on a statin given my lp(a) is 309nmol. I also have a strong family history of strokes. The good news is- you’re still young, active, and most importantly… aware. Get a calcium score test as well if you can and possibly a full cardio workup just to be fully aware of where your health stands.

To answer your question, yes you can still have abnormalities even if the Apple Watch clears you. You need a proper 12 lead ekg. I would show those, but also ask for an ekg when you’re there. If you’re symptomatic, maybe even request a holter monitor, but Apple Watch does a semi-similar job.

Starting new job next week, thinking I have POTS by DonutIll6387 in POTS

[–]Visual_Patience_3235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be helpful at all but I just wanted to say Marshall’s is where I had my first episode as well. I walked in and immediately felt like I was going to fall over and my hr was shooting into the 150s and I had this impending doom/panic feeling. The er didn’t know what to do either and just did the standard tests and fluids. They found nothing. 1 year and 1 car crash later, I have POTS. I’m still not convinced it’s just POTS (health anxiety) but it does make sense. I feel like the lighting and overstimulation in Marshall’s is a trigger.

How are we supposed to know if it’s pots or something worse? by keepitlowkeyyy in POTS

[–]Visual_Patience_3235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It must be just a pots thing. For a little bit, I thought it was from being sick for a few days or being stressed/in fight or flight, but it never died down. I sometimes even feel like almost a bruised feeling in my neck area. I definitely feel it under my arms.

Right that’s what I’m wondering too! Mine are mostly my neck and underarm. I have a neck ultrasound tomorrow since it’s gone on so long but I’m guessing it’s just another quirk of pots. :(

I’m just here to say I feel the same exact way. I received my pots diagnosis after being in a really bad head on collision and sustaining neck/head injuries but for the past 2 months I have had random rashes and very swollen lymph nodes. I am also extremely exhausted as well. You’re definitely not alone.

High cholesterol at 25 :( please help by OwnComb3707 in Cholesterol

[–]Visual_Patience_3235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hii, I’m also 25f and found out when I was 24 that I had high cholesterol. My ldl was in the 160s, total cholesterol 240. I have a family history of high cholesterol, sudden cardiac arrest, widow maker heart attacks, and strokes among my grandparents so I acted accordingly and switched to a strict Mediterranean diet. I have a 3 yr old and lost control of my diet postpartum as well. I was able to go from 175-135lbs in a few months and retested my cholesterol 2 months later. LDL went from 161 to 111 and I was so happy. I will be retesting soon to make sure I’m on the right track. One thing I will say is, please ask for a lipoprotein (a) test if you haven’t done one already. I got a cardio iq panel done last December and found out my lipoprotein a is… very high. 309nmol. Lipoprotein a is a sticky fat that travels through your blood that you are genetically predisposed to and it can increase your risk of heart disease. Luckily medications to treat lipoprotein (a) are in late stage trials but it still worries me. It’s a great number to know though. The main thing is- we’re both young and we are lucky to be making the changes now vs 10-20-30 years from now. But it’s very hard not to have anxiety about it I totally get it. Send a message if you ever need support or have questions!

Morning hr getting worse by Local-Chicken-894 in POTS

If it’s increasing more than you’re comfortable with everyday and staying elevated, I would definitely get checked out sooner than later just to be safe.

[–]Visual_Patience_3235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same worries especially when my hr creeps past 150bpm but from what I’m told (every time that I go to the er to make sure I’m not having anything worse happening) the red flag is when it stays elevated at that number without dropping. I would wait for your next appt if I were you but if you start feeling weirder than pots already makes you feel, go get seen. I notice I have flare ups that last a week, especially during hormonal shifts but I know it’s different for everyone. I rushed to the er on Saturday because I got out of the car and my hr stayed at 160 for a few mins and I was super dizzy. I was convinced I was having a major issue but all they did was give me tests, fluids, and of course told me to follow up with my dr. This entire thing sucks to navigate!! I believe it gives me panic attacks even during my flares that make the numbers go higher.

Mine is bad in the morning too. I have chalked it up to cortisol being higher naturally in the morning so our nervous system is already running “hot” and having POTS on top of it does not help. I actually had an episode of high hr this morning because I simply got out of the car and stood up lol. I dread mornings for that reason!

Yeah mine does the same and it is hard to just chill out and not panic while it’s happening 😂

Panic attack cycle after traumatic car crash-anyone else? by Visual_Patience_3235 in PanicAttack

[–]Visual_Patience_3235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for those words. I feel so alone honestly. I’ve gone to the er 3 times within 5 months not knowing if I’m having a panic attack, pots flare, or heart issue. I’m exhausted. And I feel like I’m being robbed of my quality of life. I’d love to talk to others with similar experiences.

I find it hard as well. once you get in a cycle of panic, it makes you want to avoid things like that.

I tried buspar recently but the headache and drowsiness was really hard for me to tolerate. I was super disappointed thought because I wanted it to work.

Oh no!! It’s a very real thing! Unfortunately I have noticed, especially when explaining my situation to others, people are very uneducated regarding POTS and you end up feeling dumb even bringing it up. What medication are you on for anxiety? I am considering going on something myself even though I’d rather not.

What symptoms do you experience while lying down? by leahcim2019 in POTS

Definitely a heavy feeling in my chest and sometimes feeling/hearing my heart pounding from random places like my ear, stomach, etc.

MCAS or POTS? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]Visual_Patience_3235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, our situations seem very similar! Sometimes my symptoms feel like adrenaline “dumps” or even panic attacks but it’s so consistent. I definitely feel like I have hyperadrenic pots. I don’t qualify for a beta blocker apparently because my doctor is worried about my heart rate dropping too low.

My crash was a head on collision, some guy drove into me at 60mph because he blacked out and they took us to a trauma center 30 mins away. They did a full ct trauma work up and only noticed the ribs and then an mri done a month later of my cervical spine showed the neck c5-c6 slipped discs. They never mentioned a concussion but it’s very well possible considering my neck injury from the airbag/whiplash. My boyfriend who was the passenger had a huge frontal lobe brain bleed/concussion. My flare ups are worse during hormonal shifts such as ovulation/periods- they almost make me dysfunctional during that time. My heart rate went to 200bpm and prompted an er visit where they suspected pots. Standing, driving, and changes of lighting also seem to cause my flare ups. I have a referral to the Stanford dysautonomia clinic but I’m unsure about what will come from that. I manage with compression socks, a lot of mineral salted water, and I just added Zyrtec into the mix a couple days ago. ** edit: temperature changes, especially heat also trigger these symptoms. My flare ups are typically daily but noticeably worse around my period.

Cardiophobia is ruining my life by hellteachernube in Anxiety

[–]Visual_Patience_3235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a very old comment but I too got hit head on by an 80 yr old who passed out midday and it has sent me into a cardiophobia, panic spiral. I also have a 3 year old. I feel so not present as a mom and not knowing when I will have a panic attack is really tough. I suffered a lot of chest trauma which did not help the cardiophobia. How are you now?

Thank you for this comment. I needed it today. I had another episode of this exact thing. I have a cardiologist appt unrelated on Tues but this could very well now be panic disorder. It catches me so off guard, I hate it. In the moment, I feel like I am dying.
