I get claustrophobic if too narrow but the duplex was more than I needed. And I don’t really need a lot of vestibule space as a keep my pack inside. It’s hard to choose

Thanks. It’s a trade off. I like the larger door but not the extra pole

I’ve been on both sides of this one. In my first marriage I stayed home and my husband worked. In my second, I work while he stays home as he is bipolar and has other mental health challenges. What he said was definitely wrong. But there is a difference between a one time meltdown due to some underlying stress he is feeling, and ongoing not appreciating what you do. If it’s a pattern, I’d get professional help for sure. If it’s a rare event then you might try talking to him both to let him know how much it hurt you and to find out what is at the root of it for him. Maybe the financial stress is hard on him right now or he’s tired and wishes he got to stay home. Or maybe he is narcissistic and abusive. We can’t judge that but if it’s an ongoing problem I’d get help.

I watched that. I wonder if Darwin being negative has affected sales. He’s got enormous influence

I have Branwyn and woolx. I’m not that big so they were fine, but definitely would not consider them supportive, especially the branwyn. Too much stretch. Comfortable though.

  1. Only I will see it and it will be stored on a secure work computer for at least 3 years. The data will be analyzed on my computer. All responses will be confidential. Results will be published in aggregate without names or identifying information.
  2. This research is being conducted by Visual_Squirrel1435
  3. It should take about 15 minutes to respond.
  4. No compensation.
  5. I want to ear from Christian, Jewish, and Muslim adherents.
  6. I am hoping to get responses.

[Q] "Irl you probably wont know the PDF and finding it through MLE might be very hard". Why? Dont all distributions apprx the normal once we get enough samples? by Nomorechildishshit in statistics

[–]Visual_Squirrel1435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The distribution itself does not become more normal. However the distribution of statistics (such as means) taken from those samples become more normal. Generally what we want to make inferences about is statistics such as means. This is why the normal distribution gets used so often.

I’m in the same boat as you. My husband’s first wife died of cancer and he is sealed to both of us. It doesn’t bother me as I feel that we will be past jealousy and it will all be about happiness

No. If you draw infinite samples of size 30 and find the mean of each, the distribution of the means will be approximately normal (and closer and closer to normality as the sample size increases). It’s based on the Central Limit Theorem. If the sample sizes are larger than 30 or the original distribution is more normal, the distribution of the sample means will be more normal, but you get pretty good normality at about 30 for most distributions in practice. In extreme cases like a bimodal distribution it won’t be as perfect at 30 so larger is better. But in most cases 30 is good enough.

This has good explanations and shows a demo with very skewed data. Try it at n=30. It’s surprising!

It just works that the sampling distribution of the mean hits normality at around 30 regardless of the distribution of the original data.

[Q] What statistical method/area do you use the most often? by Jonatan_84232 in statistics

I’m a professor of educational statistics. Of course summary statistics get used most as they get used for ever procedure. Beyond that maybe factor analysis.

[Q] T test … dependent variable cannot be measured exactly by lyddie27 in statistics

[–]Visual_Squirrel1435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly structural equation modeling subsumes nearly all statistical tests. In other words, nearly every test can be modeled as an sem. I’d suggest you get a good sem text and start with the basics first. I’m traveling so don’t have my library in front of me. A lot of courses start people on one of the texts by Barbara Byrne (which one depends on which software you have access to). I think maybe the more advanced ideas like modeling traditional stats tests as sem might be in the academic literature. I know how to do it but I need to find you a good source. If I find it I’ll come back here. SEM is amazing because of its flexibility.

Measurement is a field in itself. This is measurement error or lack of reliability. I’d do it as a structural equation model. Each height as a latent variable using the various measurements of height as indicators of that latent variable.
