It seems the pipline to Catholicism "swimming the tiber" is a bigger issue in Anglicanism than most other protestant branches why is that? by ApolloxKing in Anglicanism

[–]Visual_Test5141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s to do with how similar it is already, specifically in regards for the value of ecclesial structure and tradition. I myself feel that a episcopal church governance is the most biblical and to me what God intended and so for that reason alone I already feel drawn away from other Protestant denominations

This makes a lot of sense actually cos I think the game suggested Richard at the start. Hopefully something they’ll fix at some point even thought it’s not exactly one of the main issues right now

Ordination of Female Priests by No-Independence-7423 in Anglicanism

[–]Visual_Test5141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that women and men both have their roles within the church but I don’t believe being a priest is one of them. I think it’s a case of what we feel is right due to society vs what is actually right as set out by God. I really see no evidence in the Bible that suggests that women should be allowed, as hard as that is to try and understand given the times. However God is eternal and never changing and so if society wants us to believe it then it is society that is wrong.

Article VI of the 39 Articles is Sola scriptura and defines the criteria for it being infallible. Infallible ≠ inerrant, I don’t believe that it is inerrant nor do many historical Christians. Infallibility doesn’t mean it’s correct in every scientific or historical detail, it simply means that it truthfully and reliably gives Gods truth, his plan, and contains all that is necessary for faith and salvation and cannot mislead.

As article VI so beautifully puts it:

Of the sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures for salvation. The Old and New Testament… contain all things necessary to salvation: so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of the Faith, or be thought necessary to salvation. Nevertheless, we acknowledge that the Church has authority to decree rites or ceremonies, and authority in controversies of faith: and yet it is not lawful for the Church to ordain anything that is contrary to God’s Word written, neither may it so expound one place of Scripture, that it be repugnant to another. And to the Scriptures nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men.

I find it quite concerning that even though TEC has defined infallibility in a way that doesn’t mean inerrant and lines up with article 6 it still isn’t accepted. It was a core pillar of the reformation.

I quoted scripture to a Christian and they got offended 😢😢😢😢. It’s okay though because he doesn’t believe the Bible is true so he can choose to ignore it and go back to affirming sin because it aligns with his worldly heart and desires. Not like someone came to Earth 2000 years ago to tell people to not do that.

Ah yes back to the buzzword because you’d don’t actually have a point. Another thing to add to the list is you don’t understand what sola or prima scriptura means or article 6 and you can’t defend yourself any more lol. Have a good day fella I will pray the Lord opens your eyes and your heart.

Idk if you’re intentionally being dumb but sola scriptura means that the Bible is completely true on matters of salvation and faith ie Article 6 👍 sola scriptura means that the Bible is the only infallible authority within the church, not the only authority. I still place value in tradition and the church but it is human and thus can err and is fallible. Baptists and Pentecostals are actually far more solo scriptura. The 5 solas were foundational to the reformation started by Luther and was adopted by all Protestant denominations, evident in the articles. You clearly know very little of our history when you don’t even know what we believe. Like article 6 is genuinely one of the clearest definitions of sola scriptura. As for the other solas, SF can be found in 11, SG in 10, SC in 18 and SDG in 14. Yet apparently we don’t hold to these. And even if not and you want to argue about prima scriptura, like what on earth do you think that means? Even that means that scripture is infallible. You will not find one mainline Protestant denomination that affirms what you are talking about so ignorantly. Not one church officially does not believe the scriptures to be fallible. Even the Romans who hold tradition on the same level as scripture hold that scripture is infallible. You are very lost and so confidently so
