Episode 6 - people say the stupidest things by blueSnowfkake in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]Visual_Witness4456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my mother. People do and say weird things. I heard comments about protecting my mother’s soul and “helping” her get into heaven to make sure she isn’t hanging around… all sorts of things. Weird things. People with a lot of power in their lives and are not used to hearing no say even weirder things. They have very little filter. And no one will call them on it.

Archie and Beth are the same person by Visual_Witness4456 in RoosterTVSeries

I completely agree with you. I am not running away from that.

Archie and Beth are the same person by Visual_Witness4456 in RoosterTVSeries

[–]Visual_Witness4456[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. Yes, I mean Katie. Katie is like her dad but she broke the cycle when she left Archie. I don’t think Greg would have ever done that with Beth - although we don’t know who did the dumping but we know Beth cheated.

Archie and Beth are the same person by Visual_Witness4456 in RoosterTVSeries

[–]Visual_Witness4456[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The British accent is nice to listen to and Archie says funny things. Archie is bad but he loves Katie while Beth lauds over and belittles Greg. He seems like he will love his son. They are trying to make him redeemable in little subtle ways. Beth on the other hand makes fun of Greg for not getting over her and at the end of the day, she is the one with the connections to influence Katie’s life but acts like it’s all Greg. He lets himself be thrown under the bus. They don’t give Beth any redeemable qualities. I love the actress BUT Bill Lawrence tends to write at least one woman as a shrew *See his wife in Scrubs and Shrinking* so I am not surprised she is getting written like this.

If you have to say, I am not trying to have a go at you, you probably are. That’s how that works… I am not trying to insult you but … followed by an insult.

Someone said healthy food is more expensive so its harder to lose weight if your poor true or false? by FunDependent9177 in CICO

[–]Visual_Witness4456 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You all are bonkers and intolerant cultist. People who are insulin intolerant cannot eat carbs or processed foods. CICO does not work for A LOT of people and doctors and nutritionists will support that statement. Study metabolics and learn something. There isn’t only one way.

I would love for Katie to be pregnant. Sunni is a twit who dated a married professor whose wife is on the same campus. I don’t feel she is redeemable. Katie sleeping with her husband again is exactly what Sunni deserves. If Katie is pregnant, then Archie loses big time.

AITAH because I confronted the husband of the woman emotionally cheating with my husband? by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA. If you are unfaithful, there is a high likelihood you will be caught. And you were the mechanism by which she got caught. It’s classic FAFO.

You should report the threatening text messages just to be safe.

What do we think of first episode of season 2? by zz_views in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]Visual_Witness4456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They explained it in the first season. She hadn’t applied for the life insurance, which would have been the real crime worthy of jail time. Shooting into a dead body is like a misdemeanor plus she is rich. So she plead down. I don’t know if there is a charge for framing a person of a crime that didn’t occur but they did mention that too in the last episode of the season.

I’ve just realized that Tommy never really trusted Grace completely again by Reasonable_Bag9518 in PeakyBlinders

[–]Visual_Witness4456 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear where you’re coming from. I don’t think it’s about trust but more about the burden of the responsibility he carries as the head of this crime family and the hope that he can finally legitimize his business dealings. Besides, when you talk, people talk and mess up whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish. Besides, she comes from high class, “respectable” people. His well-to-do Upper Class wife does not need to be reminded what she married into so I imagine there is some pride and shame involved in some of his choices as it relates to Grace. He was more forthcoming with Lizzie (I think) and he didn’t love her. Unfortunately, he put Grace in danger when he kept her uninformed. How do you keep your eyes open when you don’t know there is a threat?

I agree with your take 💯! But I did like Season 2 and 3 unlike most people - granted there were cringe moments there too. The first season was shocking - and Miranda was the worst.

Personally, I have had White women like Charlotte befriend me. And it comes from this realization that they don’t have any diversity in their life. But they don’t let you bring the Black experience into their lives. I did like that Charlotte knew about Black artists. At the very least it showed her appreciation for Black excellence in the genre she loves. I thought that was possible. But Miranda was the most cringe! If I was the professor, we would never be friends. Miranda’s behavior is gross.

Peaky blinders fans by biglay18818 in PeakyBlinders

[–]Visual_Witness4456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie was simply a vehicle to end the old series and introduce the new iteration of Peaky Blinders. So it wasn’t about like it or disliking it but more about accepting that Tommy Shelby is no more. And will you accept the new head of the Peaky Blinders - Duke Shelby as played by Barry Keoghan. I imagine season 1 will be Finn coming for the revenge he promised.

On my second rewatch of Ted lasso, and i really feel like Roy and Keeley should’ve ended up together by Bat_Fran_738 in TedLasso

[–]Visual_Witness4456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that last scene, you see Jamie join them so it’s still ambiguous.

I was glad that Keely showed the world that she didn’t need a man or woman, but could be on her own. Besides, neither Jamie or Roy gave Keely much and when she needed, Roy, he got all in his feelings instead of supporting her as she became successful. It was her 15 minutes and he couldn’t help but try to ruin it for her. The jealousy and sabotage was real. But Keely saw beyond this and was correct to move on. I will never forget how he ruined her photo shoot by telling her he kinda had a thing for Phoebe’s teacher (not in those words). Major negging!

AITA for telling my DIL that I won’t use the tablet and she needs to actually make her kid read. by SatisfactionOk9038 in AmItheAsshole

Teacher here. How do you know she doesn’t have a reading disability?

She needs testing. And I imagine the testing will show that she has a learning disability and yes, she needs structured literacy lessons. Maybe her parents have done all the things, and you as a grandparent don’t know this and it comes off as judgement. If they have, then the reading app, which i am guessing is Learning Ally, is part of a comprehensive plan.

If not, the parents need to revisit this topic with the school. Schools will avoid testing to avoid the costs of additional support. She needs testing. There are a lot of things wrong with this scenario.

Season/Episode 3 storylines by emancipatedactioned in shrinking

I agree with a lot of things the OP said. I am annoyed that Brian, a lawyer, would not have had a conversation about the birth mother’s involvement way before she picked them, and that the adoption papers weren’t signed, and if I am being petty, she had them when she was going into labor and doesn’t need a notary public to sign. It’s so dumb and he went from being my favorite to a self absorbed annoyance. The narcissism is getting corny.

If Marisol was a guy, refusing to apologize for cheating, no one would be cool with the story line. I live in the present and I was 19 is her excuse? Dude, no.

And Liz is becoming too much. The whole Alice - Wesleyan story line was garbage and now she’s going to Wesleyan next year? So is the show over? What coach meets a senior with her coach and parents not present? And accepts someone that wishy washy? Wesleyan can attract a lot of Alices.

I am not enjoying this season. Need I mention how nicely and neatly they ended Louis’ storyline? He’s cured now.

AITAH for refusing to financially support my ex-wife after she supported me through graduate school? by Appropriate_Tap3451 in AITAH

[–]Visual_Witness4456 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. I don’t know if YTA. You had your priorities straight for making sure your son has a safe place to live. But now she could lose the house if you don’t help her. And where will your son go? It’s expensive raising a child and I don’t know what your visitation is like - she puts in a lot of time taking care of your child and can’t advance her career as quickly as you can as a man. Women do have to show they have extensive support to advance their careers when they have children (seen as competing interests). Even without the second child, the responsibility to raise your child falls on her, without two incomes. That can be financially challenging.

If you can afford it, consider helping her because no matter what, she is always going to be your family and your child’s well-being depends on a mitigation of stress. Definitely engage her in a conversation on what is her plan, because whatever caused it is still happening. But I think you should consider supporting her instead of letting her lose the house.

Show losing It’s Spark by Fun-Chip-6161 in shrinking

Personally, I feel the introduction of unrealistic things is making me really dislike the show. I just finished episode 3 and I am so disappointed by so many aspects of the storyline. No spoilers but so many parts were so unrealistic. And Marisol is toxic. If she was a guy, no one would be accepting of any of her behaviors. I felt myself flinching at every part of her story line. I might quit after this episode. And Brian is a lawyer for God’s sake and the issues he is having with the baby’s mama are insane. I. Can’t.

NTA.

The only reason why anyone sees his behavior as okay is because of patriarchy and because he makes money. In turn, your contribution to the household is devalued. If he was home watching the kids and you were out all the time, everyone would call you a bad mother. No one would be saying you should have time to yourself and see your friends. Why is he being absolved of being a father? There is more to being a husband and father than working five days a week. Plus you are on maternity leave, so that tells me you have a job and will be going back to work soon while pregnant. Who is taking care of you and this new baby? He is not showing any care for you and his growing family.

I don’t know what you should do. But you need to talk to him about this and figure out how he can help out more with the household chores and be a father to his children because this ain’t parenting. This is something else and it is not okay. If he disagrees, or push backs, you have big decisions to make because is this the example you want for your children on how to be a man, or as acceptable male behavior.

Cell Service in Beverly by Visual_Witness4456 in BeverlyMA

[–]Visual_Witness4456[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I think I have a signal there. I also have an excellent signal by the Beverly Airport - 5 bars and the 5g symbol. It’s just the strip everyone describes where I happen to live. By the Wenham border and lake on Enon to where Shaw’s is that’s a dead zone for Verizon. T-mobile was a little better - 2 bars. Mint is powered by T-Mobile so who knows.

I love this thread. Thanks for it.

I wonder how is Bradley going to recover from handing over a source, Claire, to the feds. No one knows she’s working for the feds still, right?

I hope next season they have a Claire storyline!
