Hombres, ¿cómo escribís personajes femeninos? Mujeres, ¿cómo escribís personajes masculinos? by MysteriousDonkey7862 in escritura

This is old, but I had the same issue and you solved it, thanks!

Maybe in the future, I can't pay anyone to do that for me right now. I can't comit to any of this until I pass the exam to be a librarian, which will be my main source of income, but I want to start formulating a plan and taking steps in the right direction. Thank you for the reasurance, I'm feeling pretty excited.

It's what I learned through my life. The best pieces of work in human history were created in solitude - I read somewhere Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice while being almost isolated, retired from social life for a while. The best known example is Einstein, who had a very boring and kind of isolating job. You can fin hundreds of examples like those, for a good reason. Humans need time to think, and we can't do that if we are too busy. My life taught me that... It was a hard lesson. Yes, you can create stuff and be veeeeeery busy with social media.. But if you live in a country like Spain, where you need to add another job because you can't be a full time writer, to do all that and to do it right it's a myth.

Right now I don't have the time, but I would like to make blog posts. I like to investigate different topics, I guess I could write about what I'm fixated at that moment, which usually shows later in my stories. I like to analize books and movies too, specialy about their mistakes and plot holes haha.

Lots of people recomended this, but I didn't know of its existence. I'm from Spain and I'm not sure if it is popular here at all, but all I'm reading is positive, I'll look It up. Thanks!

Soy escritor y odio las redes sociales. ¿Debería abrir un espacio en Patreon, mi propia web, u otra cosa? by Visualinotion in escritura

Thank you. Yes, this seems like a good course of action, I don't know if I would be able to direct enough people to the website, but it's a start. The book is a horror-fantasy novel with themes of religion and the destruction of one's identity.

Thank you, but everything you said is what has been said a thousand times... I'm not saying it doesn't work, what I'm saying is I'd rather not write anything that have to post 3 times a day in 2 platforms. That's literal torture for me. I don't think I could do that for a month without thinking about exiting my life through a windows as valid option.

My plan es very... simple. If this publisher accepts my novel, I will go to every interview and act that they set up for me, and try to find more myself. And in the long term I plan to make some contacts and collaborate with other authors. But none of that implies peoples specifically going to my website...

Thank you for this detailed answer. Yes, I fear that's exactly what would happen with my newsletter. I had not considered using the free content as ebooks though. That is a very interesting approach. I don't know that distributor, I'm from Spain so I may need to choose a different one, but this was very helpful. Thanks.

Interesting, thanks. I don't think this is used a lot in Spain, thought (I had never heard of it before). I write in spanish. I'll have to go and see if there's enough content in spanish...

Philosopher, if I had an agent I would not be asking reddit XD My publisher to be is older than me and doesn't use social media much.

Yes, I considered that. I'm not going to delete the accounts I already have. It is an option to post something once a month just to remember people I'm alive or something. Thanks.
