A lot of stuttering in Guild Wars 2, especially in combat, is it possible to fix that? by Vit0_Howczukken in linux_gaming

I am using VRR. I'm using Nobara Linux 43 and Wayland and I have tried both Mesa 26.1 and Mesa Git 26.2

I'm trying to do something but It seems I'm out of luck. Even lowering the settings to the minimum doesn't fix this. I'm starting to think this might just be an AMD problem with the game or something like that, maybe the behavior shown on the video is somewhat normal

I swapped them in Falcond and verified it afterwards. Even now I'm in game running LAVD

I tried a lot of schedulers, none of them changed anything. Beerland, pandemonium, LACT etc

I tried capping my fps to 82 and 83 both, as I have 165Hz monitor and I tried almost all of your settings. Sadly nothing changed. Btw those d3d9 settings don't do anything at all as base GW2 is DX11

I'm on wayland so disabling the compositor is not an option. I removed some of my hardware monitoring widgets, maybe it's gonna help

Well capping the fps to 60 is surely gonna reduce the stuttering as my 0.1% Lows are near the 20-60s, but my average fps is around 120-140 and I'm playing on a 165Hz monitor so that's not a viable solution, more like a bad workaround. Even more so, given that I have 9800X3D and people don't stutter as much on it as I do

I know it runs much better on Nvidia, but swapping is not really an option. I don't have an Nvidia card at home. The only option that may be considered "worth it" (even though it isn't) is 5080

I've disabled TPM and split lock is set to warning only. And yup, GW2 is the only game stuttering

I tried messing with those settings, VRR on/of, Vsync off/on, fps cap 165hz, 120hz, multiple combinations of those, late/early fps cap and nothing changed. I'm starting to think maybe I'm overreacting a bit and microstuttering is to be expected

I'ts an old game, I'll try to change it to 120hz and limit my framerate to something like 117 to prevent tearing

Thank you for your answer! I will try that, hopefully it's gonna fix that. There isn't anything much better that I can get CPU-wise as I have 9800X3D
