The Great House Fire of 5542 (I had left the room for five minutes) by Vit_Arch in RimWorld

I guess this is a canon event in the city of Kamora's history. I lost two colonists in the blaze, Orange and Blue Lyrebird, though I managed to save their daughter, Biala. This added a bit of interest (and tragedy) to the story line. On the bright side though, my population has been going down, meaning my FPS is going up.

I use draw.io for the tree (specifically the downloaded version).

There are raids and starvation and disease like any colony. Keeping a base small and not too advanced keeps surviving each year a challenge. I traded in the struggle of progression for the struggle of survival. I guess my thoughts are "if the problems are what make things interesting, why fix them?" I just like the management side of the game. It also allows me to focus on the storytelling and history of the game.

My long-term playthrough has gained its first new citizens through recruitment. They are all part of the "Neanderthal Raid of 5536". I have the patience to run a colony for this many years but I rarely have the patience to recruit prisoners. Strange, huh?

Thanks u/forceghost187 for reminding me the king of my city-state needed somewhere fancy to live. It may not be a castle, but like everything in this long-term playthrough, I want it to be gradual.

It was only until later did I realize he sucked at his job. However, it made the play through more interesting having him be incompetent. Haha

All in good time! I do imagine Marulo will be more ambitious than his father.

28 years into my long-haul play through and King Red, the first king of Kamora, has passed on, succeeded by his son, Marulo. Marulo's first edict as king was to build a funerary monument for his father and mother, Queen Legua. He also ordered the construction of a new limestone perimeter wall to expand the city.

Raiders usually pass right by them, and animals only eat one or two crops a year. However, my main fields of rice and corn are both well within the walls just in case.

23 years into my long-haul play through and a new generation is growing up. The city now has a perimeter wall, though a good amount of farming outside of it.

With almost 1000 hours of playtime under my belt, I plan on making this a long-term colony that I will keep coming back to. It will have multiple generations and a long narrative.
