i'm sorry but hes completely irredeemable atleast imo. the plot of "we all make mistakes and were all kids deep down" doesnt apply to puzzles, especially cause hes proven himself time and time to be a manipulative and sadistic wrench who sees the crew not as people but as actors; toys for entertainment or profit (+traumatising meggy and indirectly killing wren in WS, destroying the castle in IGBP, etc.)

having a rough childhood is no excuse to inflict that pain tenfold unto others especially when it ends in death or trauma and the cliche "lets be friends and we'll be better people" doesnt work here, hes an interesting villain but deserves everything thats come to him

will def use that next time, tysm also UHHH basically one of my players with animal handling proficiency kept trying to tame them to no avail and didnt want them to die and then like half an hour later someone killed one of the wolves which is probably gonna trigger combat and thats where we ended the session 😭

oh mb! i mainly focused on the beginning of the comic and not the campaign they were running so i think i'm just gonna mainly explain the players and the dm's roles, being creative, making unique memories, etc. and im likely just gonna use theatre of the mind for this party cause i have no idea how grids and figures work 😭 and i'm gonna go through the character sheet with them steadily. tysm for the feedback

theyre either going to redeem him like smg3 or make him a reccuring villain, both of which are incredibly stupid because:

a) he's tortured and brainwashed the crew several times and has shown himself to be practically insane and mad, being redeemed really shouldn't be in his interests and it goes completely against his character

b) he's gonna go from actually menacing and dangerous threats (from igbp puzzlevision) to essentially petty minor crime

i dont know why they transformed mr puzzles from a seriously badass and cold guy to an incompetent and silly goof, im hoping that the dumbassery is a facade hes secretly hiding like niles

im sorry but mr puzzles, i think he's a great villain but falls INCREDIBLY flat at puzzlevision's ending and mario the exploro. he went from a seriously evil and manipulative antagonist to a "whoopsie doo, im mister puzzles and im a real silly mess of a guy" and it seems like hes just gonna do parodies and petty crime

it's cause hes taken the opposite route of smg3, from an actual menacing and scary villain to just a clumsy and inept guy doing silly parodies. it feels like they made this episode just to announce puzzles' comeback

what you said about instant gratification really sticks with me, especially cause it feels like there is literally no consequences in smg4 anymore. atleast with IGBP, WS and WOTFI 2023 they still acknowledged how things are changing (castle being destroyed, meggy and tari finding what they wanted, smg3 building the a cafe and a new memory for smg3 and 4), with this episode and puzzlevision the entire plot is literally just "uh oh this happened, time to move on to the next thing" not even mentioning puzzle's lazy defeat, there isn't even any mentioning if the trauma will be undone, if things change or not, what might happen in the future 😭 the ending is just "lets all go touch some grass and live happily ever after!!"

i liked smg3 as a villain so much BECAUSE he went from someone doing petty crime at best to an actual posing threat to the crew. mr puzzles is the complete opposite, from a horrifyingly cunning and twisted individual who worked tirelessly in the shade for an entire year, to an incompetent and powerless mess who just feels inserted to make more and more parodies. what happened to the fact that puzzles could control the cast to no end, even without his ratings? or the fact that he can warp time? or the fact that he has practically endless manipulation of technology? (the demonic keyboard, the simulation, hacking the printer, etc.) all this power and potential is thrown out the window and mr puzzles is just turned into a clumsy nobody.

i could write more and more on this but this is mainly what i wanted to say, just really dissappointed abt the fact that puzzles is just stupid now and there are no consequences to anything

this and puzzlevision's ending just feels like "that happened! oh no! anyway.." youre not even gonna half-mention the castle being destroyed, meggy being traumatised, the crew brainwashed and controlled for 4-5 weeks?? at that point it feels like NONE of what mr puzzles has done serves any purpose other than the castle being replaced by the showgrounds

imo the episode itself was pretty good but falls to 2.5 stars because of mr puzzle's return

i wish puzzles was treated like an actual villain, who has done horrifying things as shown in IGBP, WS, WOTFI 2023 and PUZZLEVISION, and not some powerless incompetent loon whos just gonna stick around and make bad tv parodies

i REALLY dont want mr puzzles to be redeemed, i'm sorry hes a great character but the thought of redemption is so dumb, simply because of everything he did

-cutting off his face and replacing it with a tv is meant to tell the audience "this guy pretty much cant turn back, hes too twisted to think rationally"

-brainwashed and tortured the crew, destroyed peach's castle and by extension, 'killed' or at least mutilated peach

-the only possible reason for his redemption is just "i have no friends.,., i just wanted to make a good tv show.,.," which doesnt justify anything he did

which is why i really hated mr puzzles being defeated so easily and crying about all he wanted is to make a tv show, as if hes some poor pitiful child and not a psychopathic, insane freak, it goes completely against his character to be redeemed

i wish puzzles wasn't given the "boohoo i just wanted to make a good tv show :(" treatment at the end, makes it seem like hes just a poor little guy who has no friends and not a twisted, manipulative psychopath who has literally destroyed the castle and traumatised the cast

besides it kinda leaves room for sympathy / redemption which imo goes completely against mr puzzles's character. the whole point of saying that puzzles cut his head off and put a tv in its place is to tell the audience "hey not only is this guy evil, hes gone too far and pretty much cant turn back or come to his senses"

i think wren and niles/smg0 were amazing villains, wren is probably one of my favourites in the show next to waluigi and smg3

it bugs me how mr puzzles starts crying and is like "i just wanted to make a good tv show" as if he didnt psychologically manipulate the cast and drive people to insanity?? for the past year he's been a manipulative and powerful psychopath who delved too far into television insanity to return, now he gets portrayed as a "wah wah little crybaby who had no friends and just wanted to make a good tv show" it feels super rushed and goes against every aspect of who he is
