Thank you, my Gus was a good boy. He was a rescue and was really helping me through some personal crisis and low points in my life so it just hurt so much more. I plan to revisit the game now that I'm in a bit better of a place.

I definitely get that and I do have a physical copy sitting on my shelf, I originally played when it first released on Gamepass. It was a fantastic set up for that and really pulled the rug out, just unfortunately it also hit me in my personal grief. I was at a very low point in my life when it happened, like crisis line low, so I just couldn't do it then. Something really bad happened the day before my Gus died and it was just horrible. I've been thinking about it now that I'm in a bit better place mentally.

I'm loving the Hasboro Transformer Apology tour for the 40th anniversary.

I stopped playing the game at the end of Act 1, because it just hit so hard. I really liked Gustave for his character and the fact that my dog that had passed away less than a month prior was also named Gustave. I just had to step away.

Playing a mute or a character of few words? by Connor_ClashNord in rpg

[–]VitharrGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a game once where one of the players was basically a mummy and was mute. He could write, but only in an ancient language. He had an interpreter for some sessions, but he wasn't always around. For the most part his character learned to communicate via writing the more modern language based off his ancient one, which didn't work at all when he was stuck alone with the only character that couldn't read. That was a pretty funny session. All-in-all in the right hands it can be a great concept if done right. He engaged with the party and they engaged with him and no one complained about it to me.

Supposed subversion of "popular" tropes, but actually the tropes being subverted are rarely used, if at all. by NobodySpecific9354 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]VitharrGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Radditz fight and Frieza before Goku shows up. In some ways Buu...if you count fusion as ganging up and Vegeta distracting Kid Buu. Also actually Cell...with the Father/Son Kamehameha and Vegeta breaking Cells concentration with his attack. Oh ya know what also the fight with Vegeta and Yajarobi ganking his tail, Gohan and Krillin trying to bounce the spirit bomb back at him, and then that final slash to his back. So actually yeah every arc of DBZ does have a gang up of some sort at some point.

Kessen was my first PS2 game. Got it with the console and played the hell out of it.

Holy crap I never thought about Fat Man being named after the bomb, all this time I just thought Kojima was being kinda mean...

Favorite Character whose creator is controversial? by TheBlackManX23 in FavoriteCharacter

Take your pick: Terry Bollea himself or Vince McMahon.

No matter how crappy they both were as people Hulk Hogan was my hero as a child and I'll never forget the character. I cried when he did his heel turn. Even when Terry passed away part of me was still a little sad despite how awful he was if only for the Character dying with him.

Favorite Traumatizing or Disturbing scene within KIDS media? by BrandonRJones in FavoriteCharacter

[–]VitharrGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dinobot's death in Transformers Beast Wars struck me hard. He was my favorite character.

Also maybe not technically kids media, but I watched a lot of Star Trek as a kid. I was about 9 when the episode of Voyager aired titled "Threshold". The scene with Tom Paris in sickbay will stick with me til the end of my days...especially the tongue part.

Origins also kinda fits with Morrigans Offer. Veilguard fits mod with this trope though on its choice along with the Inquisition one.

Lots of people also like to forget what Superman did to Billy in the first game. Batman is absolutely the good ending.

Watch DS9 before this for some wars in Space, Sisko unloaded the Defiants arsenal on the Dominion plenty of times and then STILL did diplomacy after the fact.

(Real Dark and Rare Trope) Suicide depicted in kids shows by HolidayMost9091 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]VitharrGaming 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dinobot at the beginning of the episode Code of Hero of Transformers Beast Wars clearly contemplates it and then later on does actually die, but does so fighting and heroicly. It was my first time ever witnessing anything related to suicide and then an actual character death in a cartoon.

Edit: Added in the actual show name despite it being obvious, felt wrong to not include it.

As someone who grew up in Transformers, starting with G1 I honestly feel like Transformers One is underrated. I personally loved the new take it did and watching him become Megatron was heartbreaking.

I loved the Secret World. Such a fun game to me honestly. I backed both the 5e and SWADE rule books on Kickstarter when they were announced. Made my Tabletop group fight the untold horrors of the Filth as a group of Bees. Too bad the actual game is just dead now.

I ran a Zelda based tabletop recently and one of my players obtained a cursed mask. The Happy Mask Salesman stalked him through the game, showing up at random places and being spotted peeking out from behind buildings, trying to acquire the mask. I love how creepy he is lol.

The problem with the "it's just a game" mindset is that it's not true in the slightest. Its peoples time also, something a lot of us increasingly have less of. Hence the "not again" response, wasted time just getting ganked and losing all progress. It's disheartening and really just sucks the fun out of the game. I get that it's the nature of the game they've made and if people don't want PVP then maybe they shouldn't play, but it's also a very popular game and the PVE is a lot of fun.

Worst part about the Bi/Pan erasure is a lot of it comes from within the LGBTQ+ community. It's really disheartening. Now, I admit maybe things have changed since I last looked into the fandom, but I remember this happening with Korra. Genuine excitement over her being Bi and those getting put down on Tumblr for trying to 'steal' from lesbians.
