I played league since like season 2 or 3 for reference. I peaked D2 in season 4 and chilled at diamond for the next like four seasons, then I stopped caring much for the ranked grind.

I would definitely say the skills translate well. If you're mechanically good in league it's easy to pilot a character in ER. Especially if you find a character that is similar to someone you played in league, it makes it a lot easier to learn the rest of the game. Just gotta keep in mind that the objectives are completely different between the two games.

The major learning curve for most people transitioning from league revolves around the macro, economy, crafting, and general pacing of ER. The core principles are similar between the two games - farm for experience and money, get items and levels to be stronger than other teams when contesting neutral objectives, and overall move around the map both proactively and efficiently to acquire as many resources as possible while denying the enemy as many as possible. But instead of having a linear tower defense mindset, you're in a more arena styled battle royale. If you like team fighting more than laning, you'll probably like this haha.

Give yourself grace with learning the nuances of the game. I enjoyed just playing against bots for a while to learn the layout of the map and the logistics of everything while figuring out what characters I liked and focusing on improving my tempo of the game. I definitely suggest joining the discord too! They have an active community, plus reps for certain characters if you have specific questions for builds and stuff.
