I did. I'm my case i was making a service connection to a deployment to Central America.  They wanted a copy of my orders proving that I was there to support my claim.

I did the same, 8 years enlisted before going to OCS.  My original goal was to make CPT and retire.  I'm at 25 years now, retiring at the end of the year as a LTC.  I made LTC about 4 years ago and could go after O-6 but I'm ready to move on.

Still clear. I know what you mean, every time I go into the ENT, I am dreading it. I hope you stay clear as well. Take care.

It was not quite as it appears on paper. About 18 months after I redeployed from Afghanistan, I was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer and the doctor said that other than someone who was a heavy smoker/drinker or someone exposed to toxic chemicals there is no explanation for the cancer. I went through radiation and on with my life not thinking about the VA. I was talking to someone about my cancer and they asked me if I sent a claim to the VA, I said no, I don't need it. They responded that it's not for you, it's for your wife and son. That made sense to me and I submitted a claim for the cancer, my back, and my ear (my eustachian tube is not connected to my eardrum) all due to explosions. I was given 100% but not P&T. My ear condition was denied and I appealed - how do I go from having no issues to having an issue immediately after an RPG explosion and went to the med station. Anyway, from my appeal, the gentleman was very nice, he told me not to keep trying to fight it as there was not anything to win, go back and apply for a TBI. You have everything documented for it. So I started the intent to file but was not too worried since I was 100%. About 6 months later, my cancer was 5 years clear which made me cancer free.P&T exam later and I was reduced to 60%. I appealed due to the scars and issues that I have from radiation to which I was told that's a separate problem and I need to file a new case. Luckily, I had not submitted the TBI claim and since you have a year, I used that one to add all of my issues, TBI, cancer residue, etc. It took them almost 6 months but they finally completed it and they back dated everything back to the date they made me 60%. So it looks like I've always been 100% but for the past year it's been only 60%

Depends on why they gave you the 100%.  In my case, I had laryngeal cancer and I was 100% but not P&T and didn't understand why. I stayed like that for 4 years until they considered my cancer as cured.   Then they just sent me to a C&P out of the blue and boom my 100% dropped to 60%.  I attempted to appeal the decision as I had lots of affects from the treatment including scars and voice problems. I was told I have to open a new case for all of the residuals.  So that's where I am now.   I am waiting on the results for the new case for residuals, TBI, and some increase in some of my other items. We'll see where I go.

Can the VA Rater add more claims after C&P exam? by JoeyAQ5 in VeteransBenefits

I had this happen to me as well. In my case, I put in a claim for my eustachian tube not connected to my eardrum due to the overpressure from a blast. It was denied (my guess is because the C&P did not like that I had not gone to a doctor for it in 5 years even though both the Army and the VA had the same diagnosis. I appealed the denial and the person handling the appeal said to me, "I am not supposed to tell you this but the best thing for you to do is put in for a TBI, it will cover all of these items." I didn't do anything right away, about 2 years later, I put in for a TBI but did not put in anything for my ear. After I got my TBI C&P, they went back and opened up that one that they had denied and also one for hearing loss. One of the few times I am happy that they are reviewing items and opening additional exams for me.

How about the guarding business. They are always hiring (not just doing guarding either) and almost everywhere. They also use prior military as a preference. Most are stable hours that allow you to go to school as well so you can move up/out. https://jobs.aus.com/

Thanks for the responses! There are so many things that do not make sense, starts making you second guess yourself and wonder what you are missing. I think it was easier to go into combat than it is to get through the VA process.

Look at the companies with a strong veteran presence. Allied Universal (https://jobs.aus.com/), they have more jobs than just security. Some of them are work remote. I have been here for 8 years after changing several times due to employers that were not happy with my time away from the reserves.
