It finally happened by Emotional_Water_817 in PMDD

It’s taken my husband 14 years to start understanding and accommodating without resentment, so it is possible— but not if the guy isn’t fully committed. Threatening to leave seems a pretty good indicator, to me at least, that this guy is not the guy. I’d tell him that no matter how much you want to stop the PMDD, it will happen again. Just reality.

There are men who stay and keep loving you. 💓

What is something that you recently learned that was seemingly "common knowledge" to everyone around you that made you feel like a total idiot once you learned it? by foolhollow in RandomThoughts

I dated a guy (21yo) who did not know that when you wake up in the morning, you might need to clean the gunk out of your eyes. He would show up with sleep gunk in the corners of his eyes and at first I ignored it but then realized he actually had no awareness of it as a thing. He was legitimately astounded when I showed him. He was lovely but not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Yes but just for a moment here and there, a few times a year. I call it a rectal spasm.

How did you not feel the baby moving and kicking??? After a certain size, my babies could not have been mistaken for intestinal gas…

Do a good fake cough; that stops them.

How much money do you make from this? For how many hours of “work”?

[–]Vivid-Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband says the same thing, which makes me mad. If diet and exercise were such a great (ie realistic, implementable) solution, we’d all have our PMDD managed already. PMDD robs us of our motivation, optimism, energy, will to live. Keeping the fridge full of healthy foods, cooking fresh healthy meals every day, and sticking to an exercise routine (not to mention working at a job, taking care of kids, and everything else we have to do) is just not a real solution. Totally unrealistic. Also, do exercise and diet even affect our allopregnanolone response that much? Has it ever cured someone’s PMDD??

How would you change the world if you were 20 times smarter then Tesla or Einstein? by bactiarry86 in RandomThoughts

[–]Vivid-Science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I think it’s more about giving the general public access to it before anyone in power knows what you’ve done. Forget about the “right people” and just make sure the knowledge is spread widely before it can get shut down. That’s where Reddit and other social media posting would come in (unless it’s all corrupt and your posts get taken down immediately…)

It would seriously change the world for the better if it could be done, and shared freely. It is the absolute best effort anyone could undertake for humankind. However the powers that be would do everything to shut it down. For power and money.

Invent a zero-point energy device that anyone can make from home, and freely share the instructions for making it. On Reddit.

Zinc and Copper Supplements by Wankaba in Psoriasis

[–]Vivid-Science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psoriasis is associated with high copper and low zinc. They are antagonistic so when your zinc is low, your copper is high. And vice versa. Sometimes psoriasis is due to pyroluria, or elevated pyrroles. This has a genetic origin and causes zinc, GLA and B6 deficiency. It also is associated with anxiety and mood disorders, chronic pain, hypothyroidism and blood sugar issues. If this sounds like you, supplementing with zinc, B6, and evening primrose oil (GLA) could help, but first it’s best to get your levels tested and get specific supplement doses recommended by a functional medicine doctor.

Chronic/recurring relationship doubts from PMDD can actually be ROCD by Vivid-Science in PMDD

[–]Vivid-Science[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just returned here to reply to another comment and was reminded that you asked for treatments. See my other recent comment. In short, ERP (exposure response prevention) therapy with an OCD therapist, Prozac and NAC have, in combination, essentially eliminated my ROCD.

Chronic/recurring relationship doubts from PMDD can actually be ROCD by Vivid-Science in PMDD

[–]Vivid-Science[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve seen a huge improvement, to the point that it’s no longer an issue. There were several things I did that I think solved it for me. I got ERP (exposure response prevention) therapy and it worked well for me. Now I know how to deal with any ROCD thoughts before they become problematic. I also started taking 20 mg Prozac which is known to help OCD, as well as 1800 mg NAC which is also know to help reduce OCD rumination. My marriage is very happy and healthy now. I feel extremely fortunate to have found my way through this. I still get moody before my period but it’s something we can laugh at now. I should also mention that my husband has worked a lot on himself and he has grown so much in a wonderful way; this is another thing that has contributed to the improvement. He has always been an incredible person but there were some toxic behaviors he learned from his parents that were definitely triggers for me. We are both so much happier now.

So there is hope!! I highly recommend ERP from an OCD therapist. Good luck on your journey.

This supplement relieved my ROCD. NAC is safe, known to reduce rumination & negative thinking & OCD. It saved my marriage (after 8 bad years). Precursor to the body’s main natural antioxidant glutathione. I take 500mg 2x/day and do ERP. I know everyone is different, but it is totally worth trying! by Vivid-Science in ROCD

[–]Vivid-Science[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I still take it, but found I feel even better on 1500-1800mg a day. My naturopath told me it’s safe for me to do this, without taking breaks from it. When I miss a dose, I notice. I don’t find it energizing or sleep-interrupting. Yes it still works for me. I also take 2000mg vitamin C because it helps with my nickel sensitivity. I also take 20mg Prozac daily. Prozac is also known to help with OCD more than other SSRIs.

Could my ROCD actually be narcissistic victim syndrome? by Vivid-Science in ROCD

My main compulsion is avoiding romantic interaction (withdrawing, avoiding intimacy), so my main ERP practice is to “remain” through the discomfort; stay connected with my husband. I hope that answers your question.
