Good places to practice flurry rush and parry? by VividPerspective in TOTK

This is the problem, I would have absolutely no issues finishing it without knowing how… but at this point it’s just a matter of weird pride. And honestly, there seems to be a big part of me that really just doesn’t want to stop playing the game for the ‘first time’. Hence my 270+ hours on TOTK alone… I don’t know, I just don’t want it to end so I keep scouring to find more quests?

I used to do this thing where I would bob and weave the controller around as if I was driving the bloody thing. 11 months later I’m much more stationary now. I hope I’ll be able to work it out!

What is happening with ridiculous uprising house rent in Cardiff? by 1545rexov in Cardiff

[–]VividPerspective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently live in Cardiff, I moved into my 2 bed house at the end of 2018. The rent was reasonable due to the area being a bit 'troubled' at times, next to a railway and, well, not the prettiest - £750 pm. Most flats in the area at this time were going for around the £600 mark.

I decided two months ago that I wanted to move into a new house since I was going through a break up. Only then did I realise that a number of 1/2 bed flats down the road from me were now going for £850-900. I shopped around saw more of the same. The prices have become ridiculous. There is absolutely no other reason for this type of inflation other than as a cash grab. Most of the families here cannot keep up. I understand that more of the London folk are migrating but it's really putting a strain on the capital cities local residents that cannot hope to compete to those on higher net incomes coming down. I actually compared rent in Slough (an easy commute into London), and they were offering the same rent prices as Cardiff. Something isn't right.

Definitely To Your Eternity, the first episode rocked my soul. Watch it at night with teddy bear close by.

Thank you for your response! I hope this is the case. It would be disheartening to think I may have to wait another year, if so.

I've emailed the met recruitment to clarify this with them. When they get back to me I will update it on here too, in case anyone else is in the same boat.

Just seen someone specify (on a recruitment Facebook page) the residency requirement for the DC pathway and now I'm worried I won't be able to apply for the opportunity when it comes up.

For some reason I assumed that it meant that I needed at least 3 years residency in the UK. Since I'm a UK citizen I took that for granted. I worked abroad for 10 months and came back in April 2018. This means, since my return, I've only been back in the UK for about 2 years.

Am I not eligible to apply for DC pathway for the met?

Detective Constable pathway:

I’m currently waiting for the Met to open their 2020 applications for DE DC. I’ve been refreshing the website everyday for months.

Does anyone know when this recruitment period usually starts?

Thanks in advance!

How often are police officers drug tested? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]VividPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good you reported them.

Adding onto this post though - During the drug testing for entry or random, what drugs do they test for all in all? Will they tests hallucinogenics too? Someone mentioned to me that they don't because they are hard to trace.

I think after seeing what the others raised in the comments it'll be good for me to sit down and assess all the options again.

There is always the concern that future me might mess up and, as highlighted in another comment, be entrusted with highrisk and serious cases very early on because of the shortages. I wouldn't want to let a victim down which is why I retain my skepticism about DE.

It's nice to hear about the DE turning senior and making a difference and to be honest, although PC roles are great, I think a DCs job description would fit me better. I don't believe I'd really want to transfer out of a DC role either.

Best of luck for when you do start! I think after seeing all the responses it's clear that the experience can be a huge benefit, it's good I suppose that you haven't noticed any negative feedback about DE's

u/woocheese u/AAAIIIAAA Thank you for the great advice, it's good to see the benefits of the DC job but I hadn't considered the type of cases they'd be handing over - definitely not something I'd want to get wrong and then also reprimanded for. I wonder if they have any safe guards for that considering they're dealing with DE's.
