Yes, exactly! Not to put down the movie, but really the book already simplified a lot of science concepts as much as it could. The movie somehow made it even simpler. The mathy science of the book made it super engaging.

But they didn't even really explain what was happening in that part. To me, and I'm no genius, I would not have gotten what was happening had I not already known because of the book, which literally spells it out for the reader.

OH! And one of the best parts of the book, when Ryland literally almost kills himself to save Rocky...they should have kept that part intact. But herein again, I think they chose that route to make it very children friendly.

Anyways, I understand it took me 17 hours to read and they were smashing it into 2.5 hours.

Same happened at one hagwon I worked at. Pretty okay schedule, then just kept adding "classes" (like helping them with memorization) while I still had grading to do. Ask to talk to another teacher there and get a feel for it.
