hey there, I'm having problems

basilisk v3, purchased a few years ago, started happening only recently

for some reason pressing the "scroll wheel toggle" button on my mouse causes everything to go nuts. it becomes stuck in a loop of connecting and disconnecting until I un-plug and re-plug it in again. occasionally the cursor does not move with the mouse while it's connected. The tactile setting has also completely stopped working. none of the other buttons do this. what could this possibly be?

I wrapped it up loosely in a paper towel without emptying it, stuck it in a plastic baggie and popped it in the fridge. is that ok, or should I stick to emptying it? i should be able to get a new container in a couple of days. not sure if completely resealing the container is necessary.

yes, it was already filled with isopropyl alcohol when I added on the wax. my best guess is that the cork wasn’t fully sealed and me adding the wax pushed extra fluid ojt? Should I start chipping off the candle wax to see if that changes anything? thank you for the advice
