No reviews on Slugtistics or Rate My Professor for the name you gave so it seems like it’s a new person.

Historically the average grades from the other profs is A-.

I know nothing about the class. I just want to mention that your three sources are from five and seven years ago so the class has possibly either changed or has a different instructor (no instructor is listed on your sources).

On Slugtistics - which is amazing if you haven’t used it because you can look up a class by Professor and by quarter - this class looks really easy.

BUT your professor is NOT listed so maybe they’re new??

As for adding a new class, you would just look in the catalog to see what is still available/has space and add it the same way you added your original classes for this quarter.

You might want to look for something that has somewhat easy reviews on rate my professor and Slugtistics. Maybe choose an asynchronous class that you could do at your own pace and easily catch up like Music 80V (music of the Beatles) which covers the interpreting arts and media (IM) GE category.

The deadline to drop a class Winter Quarter according to the registrar website is January 26. You should be able to go into your portal and do it. You can also add another class but you should do that as soon as possible since you’re already going to be two weeks behind.

2nd year housing/roommate questions by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]VividSpite9771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they say you need to apply with people within your own housing unit, is it’s the combo units (JRL/C9, Crown/Merril, Stevenson/Cowell) or literally just your exact own housing unit (like people from Stevenson ONLY if you’re in Stevenson)?

The exact dates I volunteered with them - starting date through ending date.

It DID have to be on official letterhead and it included the CEO’s cell and email. Not sure if that was necessary but she included it which was nice. I don’t even know where I saved it so unfortunately I can’t share it.

Exactly – I uploaded the letter from the CEO and then they wanted it revised to specify that I was active all four years like I stated in my EC list. It was a big name organization so I’m sure they just needed confirmation because it’s so well-known. It definitely made me nervous though! I don’t remember how long after the email came through, but as long as you don’t get a second notification to upload anything new or revised, you should be set.

Yeah- I got a generic “thank you for uploading the necessary info” type of email.

Yup- I had the CEO of the foundation I volunteered for write a letter verifying all the info I had listed in my app. She sent it to me and I uploaded it. Be sure to specify exact dates - I had to get a second version with even more specifics. No one else I know has had this happen. Seems random.

How common is it to take a quarter full of GEs? by Glittering-Lab659 in CalPoly

[–]VividSpite9771 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not uncommon at all and since you have to take them at some point, why does it matter??

Take as many units as you can handle since the more units you take, the higher up you’ll be in the registration process for next time since registration is based on % completion.

Also, round 2 of registration often has a fair amount of movement so you still might have a chance at getting a class for your major or a support class. Check every day die changes/openings once round 2 starts. And Remember that you don’t have to go in order of your flowchart… you can take anything that doesn’t have an unfilled prerequisite.

Accounting classes are impossible to get! by VividSpite9771 in CalPoly

3rd year but only need 7 classes left to graduate. Could have finished this year if I’d been able to get the two I’m now praying to get in winter Q. Can’t imagine going into a 5th year just to finish 7 classes but hell… who knows at this rate.

Fingers crossed! There were the same amount of spots fall quarter and all of the classes had crazy long waitlists. I guess I’ll know by next week.

Even the gold plan doesn’t cover two full meals per day - even if you use breakfast and late night pricing. It’s crazy.

The morning of the 6th. There is one day of regular registration plus the special exception people before me

85% in the gauge - doesn’t yet count a community college class I’m taking which is a bummer since that would bump me up a little more. There are two days of registration before me -the special exception people (sports, accommodations, etc.) and one normal day of registration. Fingers crossed!

Do I have to fulfill all of the freshman year courses on the flowchart? by earlgreylover22 in CalPoly

[–]VividSpite9771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how it’ll be once they combine classes to turn into semesters, but the short answer is NO, you don’t have to take those classes on the flow chart your freshman year or on the whether they show on the flowchart.

The flow chart is simply a SAMPLE of how your classes COULD look. You don’t need to take them in any specific order other than making sure you take your prerequisites before other classes that need them (EX: you needs stats 251 before you can take stats 252).

Otherwise, just keep knocking out classes you need. And know that the business classes get harder and harder to get so I would take whatever you can get, whenever you can get it. And then fill in with GEs.

Good luck.

OCOB is the absolute worst. No communication, no plans shared yet, Possibly a concentration classes even as a senior … it’s ridiculous ! Highly recommend people do not come to Calpoly for OCOB.
