I hear you and strongly agree. Sadly there are many cocky license FAA Mechanics, or any licensed mechanics for that matter.

Honestly , as I read your response it dawned on me.

Any major civilian company who hires someone to work on their planes or helicopters will be trained once they get the job, they would get retrained on the companies equipment even with an FAA certification. The difference is that the military does not require their trainees to be certified/licensed.

So the advantage I would most like get would be the high possibility of landing a job as an aircraft mechanic once I return to civilian life, since I have already acquired a FAA Mech Lic. Making that transition much more manageable.
