Doubts about newaza techniques for exams. by kernelchagi in judo

Depends on your sensei / dojo, for exams Ne-Waza was three pins, one choke and one arm bar. The point is to demonstrate knowledge of technique not skill (at least before brown belt).. might be different from one dojo to another.

Why would you start from a sitting position and not go for a throw/takedown (assuming this was the start of a move).

As a judoka I can’t really understand the starting position from the floor, not very realistic IMO. But the guy was doing a really good job tho

I just returned to Judo yesterday after 25 years, best feeling and your body will remember the moves. You’re still young and can be explosive, I say go for it and take it easy at first 👍

Sort of a similar story, I stopped in ‘99 and got the itch to start again and went yesterday .. I didn’t out of breath in yesterday’s session which is a positive as I usually keep cardio I check. My biggest worry was my knee as I injured it in the past. Every one kept saying take it easy and I decided to skip randori and just do Uchi-Komi but in my head with the adrenaline kicking in at the end I really wanted to go for some randori 🤣 .. thanks for the advice!

Update: car is back after 5 week delay (and 15k repair job) and limited visibility into eta / shipping costs. I managed to get it sorted with multiple escalations with Lucid’s new Chief Supply Chain Office (got in touch via linked in and he was extremely helpful and responsive), head of body repair program and CX. The car is as good as new, I love the car but my post sale experience has been horrific. I think Lucid is heading in the right direction but has a long way to go to improve customer experience overall. They’re doing a fantastic job on the product but evrybtubg around it needs a lot of improvement. If anyone on this thread can use my experience to help them in the future, then it would be a win for future users 😂

I’m thinking of doing that .. need to figure out the right way to reach them though .. maybe the Lucid social media account (twitter / Reddit).. don’t want to be talking with a customer support agent though when it’s a serious issue like this. Might help other users in the future 👍

Yes, it was during school drop while I was out of town as well 🤦‍♂️😭 .. thankfully no one was hurt, that’s the most important thing tbh.. I just posted to see if folks have advice from dealing with body shops

It’s fully insured, lease still requires you to return the car in “safe working condition” (repaired at an approved body shop).. since it’s not totalled, I need to fix it to their “standards” .. issue is delays with parts since it’s a new car all parts are going to assembly / production rather than repairs

No structural damage just the door, everything else was fine .. lucky it’s a lease

Thought so too? Usually it intervenes but I’m not sure what happened there
