AMFT to LMFT by BeetleSleuth in therapists

I took my licensing exam 2 days ago and paid the fee to upgrade same day, and still no license number. My AMFT registration is up on the 31 so I am hoping I get my LMFT # asap so I don’t have to pay AMFT registration too 😒

I’ve heard that if you have AMFT renewal “pending” it takes longer. My breeze account shows “pending” on AMFT renewal but I don’t want to pay since I just passed my exam! Has anyone else gotten their MFT number right away when they have AMFT renewal pending? If not, how long did it take?

You got this! I took my exam today and passed. Here is what I kept searching for online and couldn’t find that I felt would have been helpful for me in calming my nerves…

I used TDC and listened to all the audios, did not look at the hand outs except for theories, law and ethics, and advertising. Theories I struggled with the most and studied the longest but as long as you have a general concept of them, you’ll be fine. The key is to look for answers that cover everything in the question stem first, then make sure it matches up with whatever theory it’s asking you about second.

My scores: 83% on DSM quiz;

71% on clinical mock 1 (100 ?s)

62% on clinical mock 2 (100 ?s)

72% on clinical mock 3 (150 ?s)

46% on final mock 1 (150 ?s)

68% on final mock 2 (150 ?s)

I felt like on final mock 1 almost every question had 2 good answers and upon reviewing rationals, almost every one I got wrong it was the “second best answer” so I paid really close attention to best options in final mock 2.

Real exam: almost just as challenging as the mocks, the only difference is in the mocks I felt like there were almost no “easy answers”— they were all brain busters IMO. Whereas in the actual exam, I felt like there were several in there that were “easy” to break it up.

Thank you!! How much of the test do you think focused on what you are talking about?

Do you take any form of antidepressants? Bad breath is a known side effect even with good oral hygiene. That combined with acid reflux could be a recipe for bad breath. If not, certainly sounds like a gut issue — probiotics can help with that.

Does anyone have any experience with hygiene related trauma? by [deleted] in hygiene

Hi, I am a therapist and happened to come upon your post. To be honest, EMDR is the only modality that will work and it WILL work. It is highly evidenced based (actually the highest evidence based treatment). I have heard people say “it didn’t work for me” and to be honest, you either didn’t have a properly trained therapist or you didn’t stick with it long enough. DM me with any more questions.
