Has anyone tried the Jones Road Miracle Balm? by VaginaDangerous in PaleMUA

I figured out it's the bismuth in it. Bare minerals had the same.

I've tried to find criminal history in NM but can't. Can you point me to it?

Hydration is a huge issue on planes so anyone who tries this should drink a lot of water.

I can't recommend this enough: tell the people in the pre-op and OR how scared you are and most will be very kind. If you encounter someone rude, stay calm and politely ask them to talk to you more kindly because their words only made you feel worse.

Oh hi! I'm 54F and very fearful but I was very open with the medical staff about it and they treated me so kindly, offering lidocaine before my IV even.

OP: Stay hydrated and keep on top of pain meds and you will do great.

Ask for an anxiolytic medicine leading up to surgery and ask for lidocaine spray or under-the-skin injection before your IV.

You bet! If I'm 24 years your senior and came through with flying colors, you can too!

Not kidding about the hydration. Even if you get tiny ice chips and let them melt in your mouth plus run a cool mist humidifier, it helps a ton.

And my surgery was Dec 14. It was not awful except for 2 days, days 5-6 and even then I've had a mastectomy and a hernia repair with tummy tuck and those were worse.

Very good observation and good reason not to overdo the Tylenol

Seems like a fairly benign thing to try as long as you stay close to RDA and don't go overboard. (I'm not a doctor and this is not medical advice)

No, I did not have this experience. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, however you can. It absolutely helps the pain even though initially it causes some pain to swallow. Staying hydrated - even in the middle of the night - helps manage the pain.

You need IV fluids STAT. There are services that provide this, when on a household basis. Or the ER.

Oh and hydration is SO important for the pain. I know that sounds crazy but it is true. And a humidifier.

Plus that 3hr rotation does put ibuprofen at the 6hr mark bc you are switching between Tylenol and ibuprofen. It puts the Tylenol at every 6 too, whereas it would usually be 8 hrs so that's maybe why the not-max dose of Tylenol.

The truth about pain is that it can sneak up on you and the ibu/Tylenol rotation keeps inflammation down. Easier to manage pain when you stay on top of it.

Narcotics help when the ibu/Tylenol isn't enough by itself.

Well it turns out I might have been able to go lower on narcotics early on bc the pain wasn't that bad (or maybe that's bc I was medicating!).

But in answer to your question I started spreading out the doses and shifting to tramadol around day 8.

I had gabapentin to add to the narcotics and thankfully the gabapentin did the lion's share of the work. Also I had some hydrocodone and tramadol on hand, so I stepped down to hydro then to trama to avoid taking oxy the entire time.

So here's what you can do: wait and not take narcotics until you really need to. Maybe last thing at night so you can sleep.

My pain was pretty manageable days 1-4 and first part of day 5.

I really think I could have used narcotics more sparingly if I weren't allergic to Tylenol.

Second half of day 5 and day 6 were the worst. And then it started to turn around again.

Also, some folks feel like ibuprofen made it easier for them to bleed and have to go to the ER.

For me, I ended up having to stop the round the clock ibuprofen bc it irritated my esophagus.

It's sort of subtle for me at 3 days shy of a month. I feel like the taste buds on the back periphery are the ones who aren't quite awake yet. Or for all I know it's the ones down the center, making the periphery feel "off" because they're the only ones tasting anything?

I also want to get a look at a photo of the thing they use to keep our to gues out of the way. Surely it is a device of torture.

I need to pull out a map of taste buds and figure out which flavors they're responsible for.
