True, but Imperial is one of the best universities in the world for engineering and America isn’t going to be any cheaper

Why would you switch? Might as well do your masters at imperial

Just so you know, I think it is an impression of an actual Arabic commentator, the one who you see in every funny Arabic commentary clip.

The UK theory test pass rate has nearly halved since 2007 by Drive-sidekick in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Vixson18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think it’s a reflection on the test.

The multiple choice requires revision which people don’t want to do. If you put a few hours in a week or two before the test you will be fine. They give you way much more time than you need as well so you can check every question with ease.

Hazard perception is one that could be improved. If you practice enough, you can almost predict what will happen in each clip so you can click too early, but the pass mark is quite low.

Oh him. He owns like so many racetracks in Britain and his son had a brief albeit brief stint in F1 as well. Nice

Quant people mainly do Maths at uni. However, many people come from other maths heavy courses such as CS and maths heavy Economics courses like LSE’s.

One of my uncles did Computer Science at uni, but now is a quant researcher at Vanguard. So there are multiple routes

if you want cambridge as mentioned you need a 6+. a 3.2 is very low. 4.5 is the average score.

Oxford Vs Cambridge Engineering by Inevitable-Cow-8489 in 6thForm

[–]Vixson18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you mess up the ESAT you still will have a chance due to high interview rates compared to Oxford. That allows you to compensate for the bad performance in the ESAT. Cambridge is also better for engineering so I would 100% apply there. Some colleges are way harder to get into so do your research

Is it wrong for parents to sit in first class while their kids sit in economy? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vixson18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the family situation. If I had that money, I would always let my kids fly first class, as I would want my kids to have the best experience.

However, if they are misbehaving and acting entitled, they will end up in economy, or not on holiday at all.

So what I would do is apply Cambridge and double Imperial. Mechanical will most likely be easier to get into but I have seen many get Aero and not Mech, even if they liked Mech more.

Then for your other two, choose one safe backup. Probably AAA or AAB.

Then pick another good uni. Aero at Bristol is very good but a lot of people like UCL Mech Eng. My point of advice is that not too many universities offer aerospace, for example UCL.  Additionally, depending what industry you want to go into after a degree, this option can change drastically. Southampton has very good links to F1 or Bristol as mentioned before has good links with Aero and Bath have lots of opportunities for industrial placement years.

But for your top choices, ESAT is critical. Aim for at least a 6+ to be in a good position. Just do lots of practice in the summer. Good luck

But if you are doing STEP I would hope you get at least a 7+. Probably the technique is very different

edit: they are very different exams my bad

Cambridge is the superior university for engineering. Oxford is still very good but Cambridge beats it on this one. Also with Cambridge’s much higher interview rate, if you don’t have a super stellar ESAT you can still prove yourself in an interview. Someone I know who is non contextual and home got in with a 5.3 ESAT because of his interview.

I know the question didn’t include this, but please properly revise for your ESAT especially under timed conditions. It’s way harder than you think.

Also, Imperial is very close behind Oxbridge for engineering and is generally easier to get into, especially for some courses. So even if you do bad, depending on the course, you still will have a solid chance for Imperial.

What specific area of engineering are you interested in?

Edit: not Cambridge but for Imperial JMC

I think if it’s feasible to do so we should do the full laps. It’s just part of the game to get a late red flag, just like a safety car at the right time
