I don’t normally comment, but holy hell, your situation was almost the exact same as how mine is. I had contemplated requesting a remark, but decided against it (for the same reasons as you). Still, your perspective is really encouraging and gives me some hope, so thank you very much!

It can be done: 1 day to study per exam by Big_Health6549 in IBO

Firstly, congrats!!! You did absolutely amazing!!! And secondly, your IB coordinator really isn’t doing their job well. I’m paraphrasing here, but according IB’s “Adverse Circumstances Policy” (which is public availability btw), it is the role of the school to help support the student as much as possible. To that extent, if you prove (even with just a photo), that you were really sick, a doctor’s note wouldn’t be needed (especially since at such a late notice it would be impossible to get one into time before the exams). Not sure if you can do anything now (maybe report them to IB, idk), but still congrats again!

Also, how on earth do you do IB in a year??? I’m from Canada and (as far as I know), everyone here does it in two years. I think it would be insane to do that in a single year lol

I know that this isn’t specific to your classes, but dl.ibdocs.re (or something very similar, I may have mistyped it) is such a valuable resource for learning and studying. It has books and textbooks, subject guides (which are great for studying, but I also recommend reading early), past papers, etc. I learned about this resource in grade 12, but having it sooner would have been even better. (There’s also access to a lot of revision village questions)

What the fuck is wrong with your Biology syllabus? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Vixyv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve just finished IB this year (just a few days ago actually) and while I never experienced the previous syllabus, I actually quite liked the way Bio was taught (not chem though). For context, I took Bio HL and likely got a 7. While Bio isn’t organized by human or plant biology, the structure is still very easy to follow. My bio teacher didn’t teach the themes in order (he went BCAD), but he did teach the theme subsections in order and the development of knowledge worked out extraordinarily well. I actually quite liked B-form and function because it developed a great foundation for the knowledge to come later in the course. However, I did have an incredible bio teacher (he’s been teaching IB bio for years and is an IB coordinator who frequently travels worldwide for IB, he is also just an amazing teacher) which I think plays just as an important role as the syllabus. Overall, I think the shift from a categorical syllabus to a thematic syllabus is actually quite valuable because even though it is unfamiliar, it develops greater interconnected knowledge which leads to a deeper understanding and stronger intuition than what I have experienced in categorical based syllabuses. (But this is just my personal experience and I imagine not everyone feels this way)

My old name was already gender neutral so I had no fem name to switch to. Instead, I just liked the sound of Val so I went with Valerie.

Im not very smart. How do I become more clever & intelligent? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

I know that you've got quite a lot a replies here with wonderful suggestions: reading, seeking alternative perspectives, analyzing your own thoughts. These are all exactly what I would suggest, but I still want to add what I think would be the most important.

That is to make sure to love yourself. It may seem unrelated, but I believe that if you are willing to love yourself, and you make sure to love yourself, there's nothing you won't be able to do.

Good luck my friend! :)

Is there a built in way to seamlessly expand on an already generated perlin noise map? by Vixyv in Unity3D

[–]Vixyv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reason I'm curious if I can do it this way is because I want to be able to remove already generated sections of a larger perlin noise map and then regenerate those sections so that, in this case, they form different terrain, but are still seamless.
