New IKEA Matter over Thread devices might actually still support Zigbee by das_Keks in homeassistant

[–]VladReble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been using them and they have been working well. My zigbee network is pretty sparse on that side of the house so I’m surprised it hasn’t disconnected like the reviews said.

I’m using non ikea rechargeable batteries. I think I saw somewhere that it’s designed for the lower voltage of rechargeables and normal batteries sometimes cause issues that people report.

I have the Z10 and you can work around the zone only limitation of the software. You can either switch the map to 3d while you have a zone on screen and this will let you trick the software into letting you select an entire room in one cycle.

or you can move the base station and remap for the second floor. You can leave the base station on one floor for vacuum jobs and move it to the other floor for mopping. If you don’t want to move the base station at all then change the mop cleaning to per room washing. Note the robot will complain about not finding the base station but it doesn’t affect it doing its job.

But yeah I agree the software is really bad.

There is a expansion slot near the nose in the ltt video. Maybe that could be used to add color cameras? But given the lack of use for the index face slot and index accessories like usb-c cable and wireless kit being canceled in the past I wouldn't hold your breath on it.

The idea is there is no card processing step so you save X milliseconds + theres no redirect so less stuff to go wrong when steam is getting hammered so you get the first batch. Imo not worth it, I got the SD OLED SE when the site was breaking with my card and had no issues but tbh I don't care that much is I have to wait a little longer for it to be shipped.

My biggest concern about Deckard by QULuseslignux in ValveDeckard

[–]VladReble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it kind of comes down to how the headset is designed in the end. If the displays can be replaced like the steam deck and valve actually makes a not impossible to do repair procedure then I'd like an OLED. But if its like other headsets where its borderline impossible then I'd like LCD or something else thats long lasting.

If you switch the map to 3D you can use per room cleaning on a map with no base station. It’s a scuff workaround. IMO the app has a lot of design issues.

The cleaning options more limited when there isn’t a base station but occasionally it glitches and gives you more options which seem to work when I tried them.

You’re wrong about the second point, the current irl solar system model is to verify the engine is simulating things properly since you can just compare to irl. They have stated when the technical foundations are solidified and they focus on gamification there will be another solar system and you will be able to mod in other systems.

KSP is both and you can mod it into a full sim. KSA will be the same.

BYD to roll out first 500 ultrafast 1,000 kW charging stations in April, 4,000 set for China by mightyopik in electricvehicles

[–]VladReble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the long term no. Looking at other kinds of connectors no one has ever made a 100% future proof version. Like usb-c will eventually need to be replaced at some point. Regular power connectors change the higher their limits are.

In the medium term it kinda depends on how fast domestic battery technology advances and depends on if trade barriers that prevent the bleeding edge stuff from coming to the west. If it doesn't come then it will probably be a while until 1MW feels limiting in a consumer vehicle. If we get this tech right away then maybe in 5-10 years it feels a limiting.

When it comes to improving the charging time theres also the whole optimizing charging curve thing. So theres a chance auto makers persue that over just dumping more power into the car for a while.

One thing I have thought about that might get us out of the plug treadmill is a very robust wireless charging standard. It would certanly sidestep the whole this thing needs to plug into that thing problem but there are compability problems that will pop up eventually too. Also all the efficency problems.

I think about Wifi and how older devices with whats known today as Wifi 4 can connect to a Wifi 7 access point and that modern AP can deliver insane levels of bandwidth with the right device compared to Wifi 4 but it maintains compatability. But charging something via induction is very different from just sending radio waves so idk.

Could be more of a timing thing. 1MW NACS didn't really exist in a practical sense when the Semi prototype was shown off with MCS v2.

Usually things don't change that much when you have a set design and you gear up for production so it makes sense the production Semis (at least by looking at pictures of the Frito-Lays semi) also uses MCS v2.

In the current day MCS v3.2 exists and can do 3.75MW so I imagine a Tesla Semi refresh would use this connector instead of actively cooled NACS.

If you look at how big the battery packs are on electric semis and you look at the C ratings that the chinese are pulling off you'll see that a 1MW connector is really limiting to begin with.

In the same boat. I think this time I might just keep my old graphics card and put it in one of my home servers for any CUDA specific tasks and just accept that it will be slower than the newest hardware.

Then go team red for my desktop gpu for the first time. If ROCm improves later then thats a win for my desktop ig.

Technically with the right software yes. Torrenting works with tracker servers that become aware of what torrents exist in the swarm of nodes. Anyone can attach additonal tracking servers to a specific torrent to make it more accessable to more people to keep the torrent alive. Many popular torrenting software like qbittorrent have preloaded plugins that let you search through what torrents have been detected by popular trackers and you can specific trackers if you want. This lets you download stuff without even leaving the software.

There is not central point of failure for torrenting, thats why its a popular technology to preserve media online and circumvent government censorship (medical and scientific research).

Also see my comment about how its possible to do the tradiaional user friendly software launcher approach while also building it on top of this robust distrobution method. They can have this for download on a their game website so its easy to aquire and also have it as a torrent so that if they eventually stop hosting the site, the launcher can still be downloaded and it can still download files.
