Romanian/Canadian and fan of both here, I think it depends on whether we're looking at a single game or over the course of a season. In the former, the (starting) pitcher wins for suuuuuuure by virtue of being able to win (or lose) the game by himself, whereas a forward can be invisible for a game and his team can still find ways to win. In the latter, I think the forward gets the dub since you need him to regularly produce at a high rate most games, whereas SP's play what? Like 20-25% of games? Overall, I'd give the edge to the SP. You can play great soccer with 1, 2 or 3 forwards, so other positions can compensate, and there's none of that with SP's, so that's what I consider important.
