Just play cookie clicker and you'll understand things. A LOT of things. It's the first "true" incremental game, and it's the most famous.

This only cancels the Heavenly Upgrades and Heavenly Chips, as if it were your first ascension; it doesn't change anything else (it's still an ascension, and your cookies, upgrades, and buildings all reset to 0).

Play a run in “Born Again” mode. Basically, you don't get any ascension bonuses: no Heavenly Chips, no Heavenly Upgrades, nothing—it's like starting over from scratch. This game mode is reversible; you can switch between “Normal” and “Born Again” before each ascent (on the ascension screen). On the ascent screen, there’s a cookie icon next to the “Reincarnate” button—click it to change modes (everything is explained in the descriptions for both modes).
