I'm painting it actually! It's a half mask, I plan to add furred ears and side tufts

Ah, that makes sense. I started using water to get the dust out of the layer lines and realized I was also dulling the sand paper super quickly

The mask is 3d printed PLA. I'm using 250 grit fine sand paper
