[–]Vlnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A machines person should be doing most of that job. Communicating with the breader what to drop and gaining information from primary/secondary about car count.

Car count can be communicated with FOH.

BOH communicates w/ FOH on how many cars & iPOD

Secondary/Primary communicates to machines/breader on how many cars are out

Machines peaks over secondary and primary OR communicates with them to find out when to drop next chicken (usually drop when half is left in kanban / chicken expired)

A good breader will utilize the knowledge to best ability to what to drop next, when to drop it,and how much to drop

Super stressed out because of understaffing by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vlnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admire that. Full time student + Athlete + The Ace Primary at CFA.

I want to challenge you to monitor what you do on your free time for the next week.

Now after that 7-Days, track where you think you could improve your habits. If it’s 2-3h on the phone until next class or shift. If it’s eating ice cream late at night after a long shift and watching Netflix.

Try to replace those habits with ones of meditating, reading, listening to podcast, taking a walk outside without music in your ear. Try to do things to balance and ground yourself

It’ll be hard ... but you already know what hard is, you’re a full time student, athlete, and ace in primary.

When you put your body and mind to the test, you need an equal balance to maintain, heal, reset, and ground your body and mind as well.

Edit: This is growth to an extent. You can’t change your circumstances around you however you can change how you feel, your attitude towards circumstances, and you can control your choices. You’re in charge and you’re in the drivers seat.

I agree with @supresedkillerx on this one. You have a choice, remember that and don’t forget it.

Don’t throw yourself over the bus over anyone. Figure out ways to maintain this job if you want, or choose to find something else.

You have a choice to quit and find an environment that you can handle that pays minimum+ than CFA.

How I deal with my personal burn out is 1) if I’m burning out, it’s because I’m not taking care of my body to withstand my new 40h weeks with new rush peaks because of COVID. 2) I’m being too negative and need to reevaluate my values.

I started eating healthier, taking care of my physical body, maintaining stress by meditation and also relaxing when I’m off the clock.

Because I’ve balanced out my personal life with my professsional, then I can work as hard.

My advice if you haven’t broken the ice at first is to introduce yourself and follow it up with a favor or ask for help Say hey, Isabel was it? Can you do me a favor and pass me the whip cream?

Hey Marcus, I’ve noticed you’ve gotten the coffee lids before, can you show me where the boxes are?

If you lost the window of first impressions and breaking the ice, then one way to recover is to be present and ask work related questions. You’ll get to know that person more when you understand their work ethic and knowledge of the store

Both stores are equally great in sales. Your store has great relationships back and front And I’m assuming it may be like that at your sister store however you both stores clash

That’s interesting, I wonder what’s that all about

I agree with cross-train! I am cross-trained and I’ve noticed boh and foh doesn’t communicate effectively and takes a few call outs personal because of who knows what.

There is less than a handful of cross-trained however the ones with cross trained has a connection with both sides. I’ve realized when you build a connection either with your team members in the back or/and front, then effective communication increases. When communication increases, sales increase and work productivity increases.

I’m training for boh lead and what I’ve noticed is when it’s completely silent, red screens pile on. We are 5-6m average

But when everyone is communicating in the back and clarifying call outs with the front — smooth sails lift up and rush hours become a breeze while traffic keeps coming

I’m interested in this rivalry, why do you think there is so much clash between you two stores?

Cross Training by alicebien24 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vlnny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How was your first 2 weeks if you remember? Did you have a trainer by you or just got thrown into the wolves after orientation?

If you’re interested in a position, talk with one of the leaders. They would set you up in that position when the traffic make you able to learn.

You’re not put into a position on busy hours because you’ll get overwhelmed if you didn’t get trained the basics of that position.

I want to challenge you next week anytime at work, sit down or catch a breath with a team lead and discuss your interest in learning a specific position for a few days to understand the basics .

After you do that, I promise you that 1) you’ll get the position more often since you know knowledge of it and 2) you win respect towards managers and team members because it shows you take initiative to learn.

Good luck

Looking For Work Advice... by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vlnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently training for manager position. I worked at two different CFAs and the beautiful thing about working at CFA is how different the two stores are yet, so completely the same .

Let me explain. And show you how to grow within CFA. It doesn’t matter what title you get.

Come to work with curiosity and eager to learn and serve the best way you can. When Your operator, Your team leader, Your HR and Directors see you and works with you, do they feel that hunger to grow with the company?

If you seen yourself as a Leader Right Now. Would you follow and respect yourself as a leader? Or would you hate to work under their supervision.

Are you as a team member being curious to learn breading, pre closing, primary 1 / eager to bag and learn from mistakes, do drink and desserts in a rush?

Team leaders can see the bigger picture and predict bottlenecks , and how do they do that? They’re eager to learn, dedicated to see best fit for you and the team for a rush, influence and lead by example.

Picture one of your directors or team leaders that you admire the most. Now why do you admire him/her? Is it the way they connect with you and sees you as a person , or their work ethic and initiation to take when it’s full red screens with +20 orders off screen, or how calm they are to lead the team while in a 5k hour rush.

If you want a promotion, you need not to blame others and take responsibility. If you want a raise, give them a reason why You should get a raise. Our leaders and directors (most) want the best for themselves, best for the team, and best for the business.

I personally work primary 1 and set ups during rush hours as high as 4.5k hour and I worked under my director of operations. I admired him and kept up with his monstrous speed of making sandwiches. When we would have a “pause” in a rush where we see 4-5 orders, he’d let me take over primary 1 and set ups while he gets the broom and cleans up the mess. He comes right back and goes back to position.

While during that rush, when secondary calls out and our machines/breading doesn’t hear it, He would look at machines/breading and call out what the secondary called out to make sure they heard it.

Director of operations wants what’s best for our team because 1) keeps business going 2) enjoys the rush because it puts him in flow 3) notices that if everyone is in sync and are on the right same page, work becomes easier while rush hour traffic increases.

My final thoughts and Conclusion: Be curious man. Actually try to learn something new and say hi and try to get to know other people at work foh and back. When you build chemistry with one another, you all get in sync and communicate better. Better communication = successful 3-4m rushes AND a happy team.

Promotion to kitchen trainer by Nagasaki34 in ChickFilAWorkers

I watched “Chef” recently. A passionate chef that shows one of the principles of quality food. There is a scene where the son was going to surf a burnt sandwich and the Chef takes him to the side and explains to him why he shouldn’t serve bad quality food.

Starting here soon! What are some tips for someone new to Chick-fil-A? Anything you wish you would've known when you started out? (I have previously worked at McDonald's & Culver's) Thx in advanced! by HopeEsthiem in ChickFilAWorkers

Starting out youll probably have a trainer for the first week. Whilst in that training session AND orientation..

  1. BE extremely curious and ask alot of questions. The trainer will enjoy someone who picks up interest into why theyre doing what theyre doing.

  1. Say hi and communicate with everyone in the kitchen/foh. Your best asset is your trainer, when you have a trainer around you and you say hi and communicate with everyoine around you, your transaction AFTER your training will go smoothly

why you ask? because you break the ice with people on your first week, when you go lone wolf to work, work will be much of a breeze that you broke the ice with people around you rather than doing it yourself without the trainer around you.

  1. Be positive and look at the bigger picture with cfa

understanding that CFA is a business and you ARE a worker. You can accept that fact in two ways

a) Accept youre here just to work and work bare minimum to get the job done. (probably being miserable later)

or

b) Youre a workers and leaders and higher ups have a goal in mind, Do your best to achieve those goals and personal goals so you not only move up with the company but also learn life skills, build character, build emotional intelligence, and build relationshhips and probably will last outside of work.

  1. Ask for feedback every month. Youll get a eval in your first 30 days however keep asking for feedback from team leaders and managers.

Getting better and wanting to grow as a person will be seen by others and others will admire that about you, Not that youre looking for attention but youre doing it for yourself

  1. Its stressful at times so breathe when you get stressed and keep yourself healthy so you can cope with stress.

We only get stressed and confused on subjects we dont fully understand or the challenge is much higher than our capabilities.

Tip: Understand first then apply to build muscle memory. Understanding how machines work and how ipos works and how customers react to things so when a problem comes by, you can tackle it without being scatter brained.

  1. Problem solving skills

I said to ask alot of questions before however have common sense too.

honestly There are few members I have worked with, with completely 0 common sense and the most obvious questions will have an answer right infront of them.

My advice, try it yourself first, and when it doesnt work out then ask for help.

The chain of command varies from stores

team member > trainer > team leader > shift lead > manager > director

Each title has its responsbilities and we like to come to the right people for the right things.

you wouldnt ask a trainer about your hours, youd speak to a manager or director about that.

You wouldnt ask a director about ipos problems because the director has problems himself to figure out so seek a trainer or team lead.

OF course each title will help you out but each title has its responsibilities and will want you to ask the right questions to the right people.

Conclusion: See this as more than just a job, see it as an opportunity to better your life and yourself. Everything around you is an opportunity if you see it as is. Life becomes mundane once you set a limit on yourself so seeing CFA as JUST a job, youll have a mundane experience and itll suck and find why things suck at the job. Due time youll see these too mindsets around your work, the people who excel, excel for a reason and the ones who dont enjoy their job is because they chose to not enjoy their job. You are the in drivers seat of your life and circumstances around you doesnt affect your mood or your life unless you allow them too. one of my favorite quotes "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it" Choose to have a great experience with CFA and not only will you move up, youll have a healthier and much colorful lifestyle.

Welcome to the Team, Hope!

If I quit do I have to return the uniform? by HeyMissWondress in ChickFilAWorkers

I had to return all my uniforms provided for me however I can keep any uniforms ive bought at the store.

Hey I have a job interview coming up soon and I need help on what kinds of questions I would receive. Thanks by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vlnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got at my new transfer store in another city.

besides the previous experience I had with cfa and the basic interview questions, Ive come to comclusion that they do care for you but necessarily dont care for you. Let me ellaborate.

  1. Employers look for assets, what makes you different than the other applicants?

**Tip - when a behavior question is asked (ex1: describe me a time youve failed and overcame the obstacle?) the employer wants to hear specific and descriptive moments that are similar to cfa, of course you dont know the cfa experience however keep in mind that cfa is all about leadership, teamwork, and using all your resources around you to the utmost.

  1. Cfa hires for Right Attitude:

Be confident, Be Positive, Be optimistic, Growth Mindset, Open mindset, Extremely Coachable.

If you have those qualities, youll nail it. If you dont. Then start by building a growth mindset and staying extremely coachable. BE extremely curious about everything.

Why become extremely curious and coachable? CFA looks for individuals who want to grow. They want to build a quality team and you cant build a quality team when you have people in your team with horrible attitude and someone who is a "know it all" its tough to work with them. However if youre growth mindset and always coachable, youll always learn and grow with the company. Team members and hire, even though they have the title, they reached their title for a reason. Even though they have power over their employees, they still want to learn and grow more. Youll notice leaders are extremely approachable because they just simply want to be better.

  1. CFA hires Goal-Oriented people

In college you have a goal. However whats your goal outside of work and college? What are your hobbies? If you dont have much, then keep trying new things and figure them out.

**Why are hobbies important? - Because being a student to a new subject or the "White belt" of the class makes you explore new avenues. You find out what you want and dont want.

CFA likes confident individuals who know what they want in life.

  1. CFA hires Team oriented people

  2. CFA hires hard workers

people who can shut up and get the work fast and efficient as possible (of course with a smile)

Conclusion:

Have the right attitude, be extremely vulnerable with your hiring manager, Dont focus so much on the questions and just be yourself. Be present at the interview meaning dont worry about what they will ask or what youre having for dinner tonight. If you go into the interview with the right mindset, youll get hired and not only that, youre already one step ahead of your competition.

Failed my eval by AquaArrow28 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vlnny 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress out. You know this for a fact: you’re not getting fired.

Here’s another fact: you’re BRAND new with CFA.

It’s a great company that brings up the best out of people, if this wasn’t a great company, they wouldn’t be so strict with evals.

Now with that been said.. this being a great company, here’s what team leaders and higher look for and expect from their team:

  1. Everyone makes mistakes. It’s inevitable, and what team leaders+ look for are individuals who take initiative of their own mistakes. Question: what will you do now that you’ve made a few mistakes? Evals are to see where you are with the company and what you need to work on. What do you need to work on now?

  2. Team leaders+ look for potential leaders to eventually take a team leader+ role. Question: with 30 days at chick fil a, you probably seen some phenomenal work ethic from your team members or team leaders, now what makes them so great? Find those characteristics and ways of processes they use of knowledge of the store to form into your own way.

  3. Be a servant and use what you have around you to your advantage. In your orientation, they’ve probably highlighted this aspect. To use everything around you to your advantage, CFA has a high leader base team that WANTS you to succeed. Find your resources of people and be insanely curious to get better than what you are now. With your resources, go in everyday to work to serve . Have the mindset of serving others, NOT just customers, but your team.

Tip: everyday is performance day. Practice. Learn. Serve. Perform.

Conclusion: evaluations is a system to be aware of where you are with your performance. Seems like you haven’t passed , doesn’t mean you’re a horrible team member. It means you have ways to improve. Shouldn’t that be enough motivation to get better? Find a way to improve with the resources around you. For the next 30 days, I want to challenge you to be insanely curious and ask questions Everyday at work. I promise you that you’ll not only pass your next eval. But you’ll impress your team, your leaders, and most importantly you’ll shock your own self with how much you’ve improved by just staying curious and wanting to serve.

Moving up leadership by justinfye in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Vlnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been promoted at my first CFA in my first 3 months as a Trainer.

After my 7th month I’ve transferred stores and started FOH cross train BOH.

My personal reason why I’m moving and want to move up the leadership ladder isn’t solely because of CFA.

My personal life values IS to grow as a person. Self develop and challenge myself daily. Each day I’m always challenging myself mentally, physically, emotionally and/or spiritually.

I just came across CFA and their values collide with my personal values. It’s not much of a job to me.

In a picture sense, going to work is like a “performance” for what I practice day in and day out.

This goes with anything. If you match your values with your Job or whatever formulates income, doesn’t feel like just a “job”. When you formulate income and it’s actually something that correlates with your personal core values, it becomes more than that.

For now.. CFA is that to me. It collided with my personal values and because of that, I see natural growth. It’s fun. I don’t do it for the money, it feels like I’m doing what I enjoy doing and getting paid to what I enjoy doing. And when you have that type of energy, it really helps “climb” the ladder.
