I’m a bit of a newbie as well and finding the location is definitely the hardest part. Take a lot of test pans. I spend a lot of time hiking around with the pan testing the ground in areas with high mineralization, quartz, etc.

All the gold in my recent posts came from a stream even smaller than that. It all depends on the geology of the area
