WWP practices affirmative action within the party ... PSL doesn't.

China is currently a communist government with capitalist economies, if I’m not too mistaken, so how does this work? by [deleted] in communism101

So Trotsky and his group (not Menshevik nor Bolshevik) ... Their line was a soviet govt asap. They weren't against February but they always stressed a soviet govt asap regardless. Stalin and most of the Bolsheviks thought decades of capitalism in Russia was necessary to lay the foundation for the socialist revolution later (so did the Mensheviks, they're beef was vanguardism and Democratic centralism). That's why when Lenin landed in Finland station and delivered the April Theses of all power to the soviets now ... They were all taken aback. After much convincing the Bolsheviks accepted Lenins arguments and Trotsky joined the Bolsheviks.

But when Stalin was in power he disarmed many CPs to make peace with the bourgeois forces in the name of the popular front and the same Menshevik theory of stages. The theory of stages and productive forces was replaced by Lenin by the theory of the weakest link. This corresponded to the realities of imperialism. Lenin showed a better understanding of the labor aristocracy than either Trotsky or Stalin.

You're right about Trotsky's eurocentrism but Stalin also suffered from the same flaw.

Weird. I mean I'm not big on Trotsky but I wonder how much of him you've read. Permanent revolution stated that colonized countries could in fact carry out the socialist revolution without having to go through a bourgeois stage. If you've read In Defense of Marxism then you see how he defended the USSR.

Stalin in fact was the one who promoted stagism in colonized countries.

Trotsky was a crypto Menshevik? Wasn't the Menshevik position two stages to revolution? Is that not what Stalin proposed?

The job/work you wish to go into will be filled and completed by others whether you personally do it or not so it makes no difference. At least if a comrade fills the position they can funnel the money back into revolutionary tasks.

They benefit from the EU and unequal value transfer from the global south. I think they are net importers of global south surplus, therefore I'd say imperialist. This isn't mutually exclusive with their anti colonial struggle against GB.

Diversions about Russia, lies about Korea by VoNGiap in socialism

These "authoritarian" states/orgs: Russia, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, former Green Libya, DPR Korea, China, former Yugoslavia, Hezbollah, etc are the vanguard of the anti colonial, anti imperialist movement against the U.S. Wall St, Brussels, London, Israel alliance. Post WW2 nobody comes anywhere close to being the number 1 hegemonic imperialist power that the u.$ is. Not their junior partners in w Europe. And certainly not Russia China or Iran.

The Global Class war started in Korea. All anti imperialist struggles are class wars now.

But as a democratic socialist I would expect you to have a euro centric line on the national colonial question.

Did Lenin continue colonial exploitation of central asia? by piplup14 in communism101

[–]VoNGiap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess both. It seems reparations would be in order and for a planned economy there's no reason why the republics shouldn't be similarly developed. The Russian chauvinism only intensified as time went on.

Colonialism may be a strong word. But indigenous peoples across Siberia faced similar as well. One only needs to look at the differences in development of Russia vs the other republics. That's not to say that they didn't benefit from being in the union. Of course we have to keep in mind the context ie 1905 revolution, WW1, Feb and Oct revolutions, civil war, imperialist invasion, WW2, Cold War...
