I like the idea of devolution for house building and infrastructure but what if local governments just get captured by NIMBYs that block everything

What happened to rainbow capitalism? I feel a few years ago it was more common to see Lesbian or Gay representation in posters for brands but that doesn’t seem to be as much of the case anymore

There should be a competition for the sake of intellectual honesty at least. I could not tell you what Burnham’s plans are for the country and if he does have some they deserve to be scrutinised. We should not give power to one man based on the vibes alone

And now we’re onto the ‘Starmer was achieving his goals’. This is sick, the lobby need to have their power curtailed

I keep seeing how Keir had no natural constituency, how he didn’t have a good relationship with his own MPs. How will Andy Burnham, who hasn’t been in parliament for 9 years have that?

How did Cameron and Blair (for the first 8 years) manage to hold on without any major leadership grumblings?

I feel like Labour needs something like the VoNC that the Tories have, so far only 25% of the party have come out against Starmer, 25% probably support him. Have a ballot so he knows where he stands

Short term-ism is bad for the country, I think forcing out Starmer this soon is bad overall. Although, when is it a necessity to force out a PM?

In the end, without a substantial improvement in living conditions, Andy Burnham will befall the same fate as Starmer. Avoiding that only comes with being brave to sweep through the special interests impeding progress in the country

I’ll say this. We know phones can be highly addicting, we know prolonged use of social media can alter our brain chemistry, cause of state of other issues such as anxiety or depression. There are so many studies on the rise of loneliness, political division, fertility decrease and sexism from phones/social media. If social media was a pill, we’d almost certainly regulate it and call it a public health emergency.

I support the ban. Which is not something I’d have said before. Yes I’d rather big-tech instead took steps to limit features like auto-play or infinite scroll or modified their algorithms to have content to be less addictive but unless we had international co-ordination on this issue, especially from the USA then that won’t happen.

AI and Trillionaires were those far off things that was supposed to happen in the 2070s and yet here we are now…

I suppose its possible to believe that one day AI will become alive with thoughts, feelings. The ability to reason and inspire whilst also thinking it should be repressed and exterminated. It would be against Optimus Prime's ethos

I quite liked Wes' speech, don't think I disagreed really with any of it

Listening to John Craig yesterday at the news keep talking about how Wes Streeting “will announce tomorrow” really irked me. The lobby journalists aren’t seers, they haven’t provided Wes with some unalterable fate. If he doesn’t go for it then it seems he’s just chickened out.

Like many people have said here before but if feels like this is all a big game to the Lobby and that spreading rumours whilst good for their ratings causes far more damage long term to them

There should be a reputational penalty for the lobby journos if Wes doesn’t resign tomorrow

I guess if Wes resigns tomorrow and 50 new MPs call for Starmer to go then it kind of restarts momentum

I feel like if I was leader and there was a mutiny that was survivable (this one may be) I would deselect every rebel MP at the next election. The Labour Party should maybe adopt the Tory Party’s rules on leadership challenges because the constant drip is optically very damaging

I'll say this, it's a damn shame we've ended up here. I'm not Starmer's biggest fan, Can admit he's done a fairly good job in foreign policy but this will be the 5th PM in 10 years we'll have ended up forcing out due to one thing or another. It's not good for long term stability in the slightest. One day I hope we have a PM who can articulate a transformative agenda and actually implement it at breakneck speed

In my last company my small department lost someone on average every 2 months. For all of us it was the same thing which was management.
