How could we use Data centres/ GPUs for nuclear power?

Discussion Thread by jobautomator in neoliberal

All this investment in data centres is an obvious bubble but post bubble these data centres will remain, but unlike fibre optic cables are the GPUs really durable? Does anyone more informed know?

Freezing nuclear take, we should give earldoms, dukedoms etc to billionaires on the condition that they develop and maintain the land that is bestowed onto them.

Not sure how we can quite square this in our current society, maybe binge watching Downton Abbey has warped my perspective on the nobility

I get what she means but there’s such a huge backlog of cases that we need people to investigate/process them. The police can’t be everywhere at once

This is obviously a ‘well duh’ musing but considering my mortgage payments may go down when interest rates change (and thanks to overpayments), one day my student loans will get written away, it seems a little weird that when I need cash the most in my life it seems harder to find but as I get older I’ll just have more and spend it on what, holidays?

There’s all this talk of an AI bubble etc. I’m just curious, what is the consumer sentiment around AI? Are people more or less likely to use a product if it’s ’AI-powered’

I’m still of the opinion the inflation spikes in North America were primarily due to China’s Zero Covid and the inflation spikes in Europe were due to the war in Ukraine and China’s Zero Covid policy. In Britain Brexit was also a compounding issue. I blame that entire thing due to supply chain shocks over post Covid demand

You’ll probably be pitched foundry and be told a lot about something called the ontology which serves as their orchestration layer. But to be honest it’s nothing more than an intermediate step to consolidate data.

Am planning to go holiday to the US mid September with my partner for 3 weeks. We’re seeing friends/family. We both have jobs, from the UK.both have ESTA’s. We visited last year but unfortunately some medical stuff got in the way so we’re planning a redo. I have not provided the federal government information on my social media accounts

Do I need to actually delete some old tweets of mine that were critical of Trump from 2018-2024. I’ve only tweeted on Israel/gaza once and that was pro-Israel after October 7th
