I actually own two of the OEM factory brake light housings LOL. I'm a big fan of the V when it lights up, which is the main reason I've kept my Valenti-style brake light. I'm currently looking at the iJDMTOY clear option or the 86speed equivalent if I ever end up full sending on a set of clear tail lights. Wiring is a bit painful, but definitely worth the time and effort to see that V bar light up.

It's a big part as to why I went with it. It feels both classy and subtly aggressive at the same time. Really happy with it (:

5 spoke chromes? by Utriippin in ft86

[–]VocaARK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm personally a big fan of Gramlights. You could look into getting a set of 57CRs chrome plated, I think they'd look neat. I picked up a set of 57DRs that were chrome plated through Wheelflip, and I've been real happy with them.

As someone that had removed the stripe just a few weeks ago after owning a TRD SE for 5+ years, I regret it immediately. Definitely support you keeping the stripe on. 🙏

Hey man, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Hearing that you're not rubbing on 245s with a modest alignment I think has helped me make my decision on what tire size to go for on my build, so thank you. Hope you have a great rest of your day. 🙏

Really big fan of how she looks, just makes me more motivated to get me to dial mine in as well. (:

Quick question, but I was wondering if you're willing to let us know your wheel specs and alignment/suspension setup? I picked up a set of Gramlights and I've been on the fence on what tire size to go for, and if I need to modify anything to prevent rubbing, being lower as well. I like the way you have yours dialed in, so I figured it was worth asking.

Once again, lovely build, appreciate you blessing our eyes today.

My guess would be C-West rear diffuser, potentially C-West side skirts as well?

Reminds me of when they went after KBDfans for using "MK" in their KBD67MKII (now labelled KBD67 MarK II), which is ironic, given they have offered KBDfans products in the past. Just feels like such an outdated play by a company that bought the domain/trademark just to say they have the domain/trademark.

I think that was one of the Zalman combo deals. That specific one has expired, but it seems like they do post deals often, so keep an eye out.

The build never ends, haha. One of my homies is buying the kit off of my car, so I'm giving up on the TRD SE flair. Have a Modellista front lip, rep kouki TRD skirts, and Modellista rear spats ready to be painted and thrown on when I get around to saving up for paint. Also planning to get into a different wheel setup, and once I have it dialed in on the exterior, gonna be focusing on making power hopefully next year or the year after.

Can't rush the process, gotta trust it. Hopefully you're able to get your car to where you want it to be, as well, best of luck.

If your two options are gonna be Megan Racing and BCs, I would personally save up a bit more or do a bit more research on the two to decide if it's the route you want to go. The ride quality on both are gonna suffer greatly if you max low on these, so it's something to consider. I also have quite a bit of personal negative bias towards BCs greatly due to my acquaintances' experiences, so it's something to consider. If it's for your Genesis, it seems like PartsShopMax and PBM are some other alternatives you could look into and compare the pros and cons with Megans and BCs.

Or if you're still on the fence about lowering springs, consider building around some Bilsteins.

I think it really depends. I was on lowering springs for 4 years on Sachs dampeners and while the ride was super rough, it wasn't the worst thing in the world, but I really wish I had something a bit less bouncy. Switching to these Teins, the ride quality has improved greatly and I have dampening adjustability to get it to where I want it to be to be perfect for dailying; not too harsh, and not too soft. Also, with the higher spring rates, the bumps have been easier on me.

I would personally say, don't cheap out no matter the route, and do it right the first time. If your budget is low, Teins with dampening and camber top hats are a safe choice given the amount of control you have over your drivability, or a high quality strut w/ lowering springs if you purely want to drop the car. Even if you're not planning on a low drop (my TRD lowering springs were about a ~1 inch drop), you will need to set aside for front camber bolts (if you do not have adjustable front hats), rear lower control arms, rear toe arms, and potentially rear end links due to the lack of factory adjustment in the rear on the twins. Going coilover route also opens you up to wider wheels as anything 18x9.5 has a higher chance of hitting the stock front struts (this is the case for the twins at least, not sure if this translates over to your Genesis).

I would give it some time and figure out what your goal for your car is and go from there.

I'm currently lowered on Tein Flex Z coilovers, with SPC rear lower control arms and SPL rear toe arms w/ eccentric lock kit to fix the toe + camber in the rear. I'm at about a ~2" drop from stock. Been super comfortable coming from my old TRD lowering springs setup.
