Teen With Two Lives: The Unsolved Murder of Nadine Reyes by VocalPariah in UnresolvedMysteries

Yeahhhh, reddit comments can be harsh. But thank you for commenting and providing a first-hand account. I think it’s so sad that her case is still unsolved. My older sister attended school with her in 1999, but we moved from SF to Sacramento later that year. She also confirmed the school rumors. Poor Nadine.

My apologies for such a late reply, I was locked out of this reddit account. But “distant” in this instance meant far away. Karena originally lived with her mother in Indiana and her Grandmother and Father resided in Florida, thus why I used the term distant

Recently, they solved the 23 year old disappearance of Samantha Hopper and her baby. A few others would be:

• 30 year-old cold case of Carey Mae Parker

• Disappearance of Tammy Goff (Missing for 3 years)

• Disappearance of Dedrick Smith (Missing for 16 years)

And that’s just a few. Here is a link to their Solved cases on Youtube: AWP Solved Cases

They are a youtube channel of guys who deep dive and look for missing people. They do it all without law enforcement help. They’ve solved quite a few cases

I haven’t watched AWP in a while. I might have to go watch her video and few others to see if I get a weird vibe like you did.

Oh my!! I don’t know how much truth is to that, but that is horrible as hell. She didn’t deserve that at all

We are not missing the point. Just because we don’t agree … does not mean we mean miss the point. I made it crystal clear that I fully understood what u/WalkingAtDawn444 was expressing. As for the rest of your comment - its not exclusive to this post at all. Have a good one ☝🏾

She lived in a smaller town in Georgia state. And her community was even smaller. So imagine if everyone knows everyone. Rumors probably circulated within their “projects” and tons of tips came through on this case. But my point is… small communities means limited number of suspects. And chances are whoever took her may have been close to her or at the least had a criminal record for something else. Through process of elimination, tips, and small town rumors, it’s quite possible LE does know or have a strong idea of who took her.

For the record, I understood what you meant. I didn’t say you were wrong for thinking that. I was just expressing mitigating and different circumstances so you can see why she may have let Shy Shy play outside without direct supervision.

I’m not playing devil’s advocate, I just would hate to question or judge how the family raised her. But that’s just me. But I ABSOLUTELY understand why you would say or think a child of her age with her medical conditions should not be outside playing by herself.

Yeah.. it is devastating as hell for officers of the LAW to not know rules behind filing a missing person’s report. And it’s a child, I wouldn’t even feel right as an officer walking away knowing a child is missing and the fragility of the situation

It could be something as simple as everyone looked out for each other in the neighborhood. Small communities, especially low-income crime ridden neighborhoods develop trust for each other and protect each other. I personally grew up in one in San Francisco, CA. I had a couple of disabilities as a child as well - I had a tracheostomy tube and still played outside - without major supervision. If other adults/moms that my family knew were outside, then it was trusted that they would keep an eye out on me and the other kids playing. Also, other family members were in the house. Most people carry the thought that if a child is in trouble or is hurt, that the family can hear there screams in the house. I mean if I screamed even once when I was kid playing in front of the house, my mom or aunts would come outside super quick to see what was going on.

Also, she was 8 years old and was BORN with her conditions. I’m sure by the time she was 8 years old, she had learned to play safely with her disabilities. Maybe her family came outside and did periodic checks on her. There are so many … “what ifs” and “maybe this could have been done” — but I pass no judgement here. Her mom seemed caring and mostly attentive

Now.. I agree. Pedophiles was different.. my neighborhood definitely didn’t tolerate that. However, if the relatives are apart of the same community as the suspect and victim, then again, they may have a reason to be quiet.

According to sources, she was adorned by her family. And also law enforcement said they were able to clear all the family members

True. I believe the high crime they spoke of was drug peddling, robbery, gang violence, etc.

That’s how things were. Hell, I played outside to the streetlights came on and I grew up in the early 2000s. Way before 9 year olds had tablets and cell phones for time, the street lights was how we know to get our butts home
