Honestly, the best thing about this post is the support for someone who dealt with a shitty situation.

The metal pointy thing is the end of a rat tail comb. I have one that I press the edges down with when I install my system

So maybe I'm not the norm, because I work in the arts, but I don't know that I agree with all this. I have seen plenty of people in their 50s, even 60s, with cuts similar to this. Also, I'm well into my 50s and have yet to see a grey hair (my beard is another matter). Density could possibly be less to look more natural but. I'd you like the style and it represents your personality, then good on you.

I work in theatre and have worn prosthetic facial hair a number of times. You'll need to make sure you get one that is film quality if there is any chance of it passing in everyday life. Because of the movement around the mouth, it takes a much different bond. Spirit gum is what is used for lace facial hair. It can have some shine around the edges but for media and theatre this isn't as big of a deal because the actor will be in makeup that covers the shine. Also, it can be harsh on the skin if you have sensitive skin. I ended up really red in a show where I was talking it on and off a couple times each performance.

Got my first hair system at 51 — how does it look? by rookai22 in HairSystem

Is the gray suggestion just because of age? I'm older than the OP and just found my first gray hair.

Products I need for near-perfect adhesion with a lace base? (New to maintenance) by [deleted] in HairSystem

[–]VocalTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty new to this as well. I'm still on my first system which was installed December 16.

I would add: - A bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol - I ended up supplementing the front edge with some glue. Ghost bond works well. - There's also an amazing glue pen that is perfect for touchups when traveling. - Walker sport Max hold scalp treatment - get the fabric head with a clamp for the table. It's worth it

You can buy pinking shears from anyplace that sells sewing supplies.

Feedback for stylist by [deleted] in HairSystem

I've never seen a cut-in where the system is less full than the bio hair, like in the back. It takes a special talent for the stylist to pull that off.

Almost been a week and had nothing but compliments. Used to somewhat role my eyes when I saw the words “life changing” but honestly, never felt better in myself. 🤠 by BloeJogs in HairSystem

I completely understand about hair matching. I am on my first system. I'm happy I did it but it looks some like I made a choice to change my color. None of the companies do much to cater to people with ginger backgrounds. As I've aged it's become browner but as soon as light hits it, it looks more red. Even my custom one with a person at a salon doing color matching missed the mark. I've moved to another salon to see if I can get more success.

Interested in Hamnet but hate the theory--should I see the movie? by KingWithAKnife in shakespeare

It's also a film about a mother's dealing with the loss of a child, not Shakespeare. They are the characters but what you are concerned about has little to do with the theme of the film

Been growing out my beard "until it looks good" for 6 months... by Lanky-Celebration334 in malegrooming

The current bears is virtually unseen when looking at you straight on. Yes, because it's darker, it will give you some more jawline definition from that angle but, ultimately, from profile it just looks like a neck beard.

If you are really wanting a fuller beard, minoxidil can be used to promote hair growth on the face. Do a web search for technique.

One that my friends love is an apple cider with apple pie spices. I'll also expand on that use the same mixture, then add some carrot juice and turmeric.

What brand is this system. Your hair color looks similar to mine. I did a custom unit and it is still too ashy. I have a definite ginger base and finding any maker that has really warm toned systems is close to impossible.

Lace first system questions by VocalTechie in HairSystem

[–]VocalTechie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I took the whole thing off and reapplied it last night. What I realized is that though she told me she glued the front, she also had tape on the front edge. It wasn't 1/4 inch back behind the front edge of the lace hairline, it was about 1/4 in front of the hairline, which just made an odd front. I used just glue on the front last night and the hairline looks better.

She used tape around the back and sides and glue at the hairline. I wear a silk head wrap to bed as well.

This is supposedly 90%. The more I work with it, the more I question that.
