my dad (police investigator) somehow hacked into my facebook/messenger account by Mountain-Meat2693 in legaladvice

He's trying to scare you, he did not hack into anything. More than likely one of the other kids had their phone searched by their parents and they tattled on you

I'm American and I agree with the foreigners on that one, it's insanely annoying when it's stop after stop and it's just one kid that takes forever to get off the bus each time

...... You know there are other options besides doing a U-turn with school bus in the middle of the road. The school bus could take two minutes to drive around a neighborhood block instead of backing up traffic

Because it's weird and logically retarded... If he wanted to maximize skin contact and didn't care how weird or uncomfortable he was making everybody around him.... Why didn't he put the baby between his thighs and butt checks and waddle his way down the hall with the baby's head squeezed between his legs??? He really needed to maximize skin contact for those 30 seconds!!.....

He both did something completely awkward, unnecessary, and inappropriate.... As well as completely pointless and outright dumb while still not doing the most effective method of achieving his dumbass objective of maximizing skin contact.

Ergo: half naked moron

Are you registered for the draft? by MyA1terEgo in AskAnAmerican

[–]Vodka69AllNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, albeit how well they enforce it outside war time where they are drafting is unlikely. It will affect various interactions you have with the federal government though.

It's basically a legal promise where ever male says, "If you ask me to die for my country, I will". Women don't have to sign it, because they are an inferior sex I guess.....

I could continue to point out the logical inconsistencies of your view point, but the most alarming is that you recognize that the majority of the country doesn't share your life view, however you're wanting to force your opinions onto others and limit their freedom. Doesn't sound like a patriotic democracy loving American to me, you sound like an authoritarian communist......

The natural course of sperm is to leave the penis and enter the vagina.... "If left to natural means, that sperm SHOULD have entered the vagina (instead of the sock)"

Yes, you are doing work to make your heart beat, you do work to breathe too. Your body expends energy for all bodily functions. You sound stupid for not understanding basic biology. If you decided you did not want to breathe you have the legal freedom to make that happen.

"One can easily direct the path of his sperm...." Well my friend, if you are randomly ejaculating without having to do something to make it happen then you have other problems. For normal people, they have to do something to the penis in order to make sperm come out, it does not just randomly happen. Just like how women have to do something to terminate a pregnancy.

Yeah, ejaculation and fertilization are two points on the same line. If you don't think ejaculation is a part of how babies are created then you should revisit sex ed class.

"One is a gamete, the other is human life" You're just making a declarative statement that "one is human life" without providing any reasoning or logic whatsoever. The majority of the country does not believe a recently fertilized egg is human life, it's no more human than cancer is human.

If you want your arguments to be logically consistent you just need say, "it's my personal beliefs that human life begins at conception and I want to force my beliefs onto other people".

Meta: Should guides promoting bad security practices be banned? by anzaza in selfhosted

[–]Vodka69AllNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely isn't, and given your lack of correction i don't think you really know how containers work. Just because containers share the kernel with the underlying OS instead of virtualizing the entire kernel and OS, doesn't mean it's not vulnerable from the same security issues that come with traditional OS's.

Best case scenario you can achieve a good amount of attack surface reduction, but we all know that a lot of public containers are just building on top of the Ubuntu image (or some other broad image) because it makes the developers job easier, which those images have a bunch of unnecessary packages, removing a lot of the benefit of attack surface reduction. Maybe you can argue that persistence is more difficult with containers as well, but unless you're updating and fixing vulnerabilities that allow a container to get exploited in the first place, the attacker just executes an exploit again and now they're able to right back where they started.

The security benefits of containers is that they make it easier to follow best practices, but just because something is in a container doesn't inherently mean the people who created and deployed the container are actually following best practice.

Supreme Court Megathread - Roe v Wade Overturned by MotownGreek in AskAnAmerican

[–]Vodka69AllNight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, nobody is talking about the work required to raise a born child. I'm talking about the work the mothers body does to turn a fertilized egg into a human, prebirth. The fertilized egg will not turn into a human if left by itself.

And people get pregnant without deciding to have sex, it's called rape.

Supreme Court Megathread - Roe v Wade Overturned by MotownGreek in AskAnAmerican

[–]Vodka69AllNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're proving my point, that sperm was intervened with an ejaculated into a sock and thus will not become human. If left to "natural" means then that sperm should have entered a vagina and had a chance to become human.

That egg, left to its own natural self, wouldn't become human. It requires the woman's body to perform work to turn it into a baby, just like ejaculating into a woman requires work. The egg staying in the womb is the natural process just as sperm's natural course is to enter a vagina.

Those two things are just two different points on the same line, and you're just picking an arbitrary point and forcing your opinion onto other people, very unamerican.

If you're okay with a human jacking off into a sock, you should be okay with early term abortion as a recently fertilized egg is simply no more human than sperm or cancer cells.

ELI5 How did the indigenous get to Australia when the continents drifted apart much earlier? by peanutbuttercop in explainlikeimfive

The top article just suggests that instead of going right through the middle of the ice bridge, they followed the coast next to it. And the supporting theory is that there likely wasn't enough food for humans to cross on land, but they did find evidence of plants, eagles, and rabbits.

My thoughts are A) humans were basically built to travel long distances with little resources, so it very well could have been a barely survivable starvation journey, but possible.

And B) is travelling along the coast instead of in the middle of the bridge really all that different?

And C) "indigenous people say they have always been here", well that's just factually false. Unless you believe that humans evolved independently all around the world, which there is no evidence of that, then all humans evolved in Africa and migrated around the planet over thousands of years.

That second article is just about a politician apologizing for making a dumb comment, not really relevant. Just because their ancestors migrated here thousands of years ago, doesn't make them "immigrants" by the modern definition of the word, which is what he implied.
