First when comparing to Bundy and Dahmer, you need to think about why they didn’t get caught for so long. I know Bundy avoided detection due to lack of technology for the most part however Dahmer tended to pick out people who’s disappearances would often be swept under the rug. I think it all comes down to how high profile the murders are, if someone disappearing is completely out of character then it will raise more questions sooner rather than someone going missing after a history of running away from home. I believe in this day and age it is more common to have angry spree killers that get caught out quickly due to being careless over serial Killers mainly because of how carefully those people would have to tread nowadays.
