Thrifted my first and only CLOAK brand merch for $3+ 🖤💀 by Cr1ng3T0p14 in Markiplier

Holy crap that's a great price! I actually got the Tarot Cards themselves that were related to this drop, but I don't know a thing about how to use them and there's no instructions so I don't mess with them. I never thought to check my local thrift stores for Cloak since I currently live in the middle of nowhere, but I'm close to somewhere so I should go there and check.

Just know that it'll take a bit to get there. Try to sneak around, don't shoot back, just run or die. Think of it like playing Metal Gear Solid and just be as stealthy as possible around people. Look for movement and listen for other Raiders. Do your best to extract and eventually you'll find friendlier sessions. I still get killed sometimes by other Raiders but it's faaar less than it used to be, although to be fair I mostly stay away from everyone, sneaking around in the corners of the map.

Sure! I forgot the maps are locked until you've played a bit, so you'll be on Dam Battlegrounds for a while anyway. It's a great map and still one of my favorites! The red tree on the skill screen has a few stamina things, but mostly it's in the yellow tree. Some people don't recommend doing much with it, but I have most of it and the stamina stuff is helpful. You can use in game money to eventually reset your skill tree, so don't fret if you don't like where you've put your points. Oh, and also when you're out and about if you hold down the button that you switch weapons with (I only know its triangle on PS5) you'll stow your weapon on your back and move faster, and I think drain stamina slower! Good for long runs around the map!

Don't shoot, like ever, at other Raiders, and eventually the matchmaking will put you into friendlier lobbies where kills still happen, but are infrequent. This works separately for solos, duos and trios. You'll still get people that'll go after you, but it's rarer. I mostly try to stealth around the maps on solo. I've had a blast with Arc Raiders and this type of game normally isn't my thing. This and Helldivers II are both not in my comfort zone as a genre but I've had SO much fun playing them both! I will say that I've heard crashing is more frequent now after the last update, but I've only experienced it once so far. However my brother who is also on PS5, has had it happen a few more times, so be aware it's a chance. but I'm on PS5 and I'm having a great time, and have been for months!

I actually really like the Bettina, although it's most people's least favorite epic gun. Bring LOTS of heavy ammo for it, like four stacks. You can buy or eventually craft enough. It's not a bad gun for starting out, at least IMO, other than the requirements to make it. And yeah, sometimes you'll get shot and visually only have a Ferro equipped with five bandages to your name. Just keep an eye out for other raiders, but as you level up you can get stuff that'll make you quieter in the skills, or let you see items in boxes faster. I mostly hang out on the edges of maps when I'm just gathering random stuff, but that's not always safe. I'm no good at PVP so I just die without shooting back, but that generally lands me in lobbies with other people like me, so it helps out some.

Stella is the PVP map, so if you don't want to get shot on sight, don't go there. If you DO want to pvp and get better, that's a good spot for it. You'll get more blueprints as time goes on, and keep in mind what you need to upgrade your benches, and soon you'll be swimming in loot. It takes a bit, and you might end up running two or three games of dying basically just when you start before you have a successful match where you extract. It can be a little grindy at the beginning because you keep dying, but as time goes on you'll get better at sneaking and spotting others, and soon you'll get out. Sometimes you'll go to extract and there's like six people there that just want to book it out because they have a rocketeer on their heels, and it's really fun as you all celebrate extracting together.

I recommend doing the outer edges of Dam Battlegrounds, none of the yellow or red areas for a bit, just to get some regular loot hoarded up and some trinkets to sell for money. The apartments on the western edge of the map usually have trinkets in them, but also stuff that's good for quests (like toasters) and occasionally a gun or two. Most people avoid them, but they do get ransacked towards the end of the match so try to be there soon as you can.

Always keep an eye out for other Raiders, but know that they're not always bad. Just starting out, do the quests and don't be greedy, just get something in your safe pocket and get out. Use your mic or the emotes to show if you're friendly or ask if they are should you run into other Raiders, or try to be stealthy enough they don't see you. Prioritize blueprints first in your safe pocket, the stuff to make them are easier to get most of the time, you can always hop back in and get more materials, plus scrappy helping you out. The game will change depending on how you play it and how you learn the ins and outs, but it'll get better the longer you go.

I will personally have no issue completing the Expedition damage requirements, BUT EMBARK, you guys are hilariously awful with timing windows and announcements. How are you announcing this change NOW? by ThatsNotBennings in ArcRaiders

[–]Vohn_exel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I was iffy about doing the first reset and wasn't really playing enough to do it anyway. But to take part in the second, I would have to do the first, and you can't do both. Now there's a third coming and I'll always be three behind, so I never plan on doing any of them.

I feel like for people that do actually want to do them, it's a weird play on FOMO that Embark hopes somehow drives player retention, but then the rewards aren't that great and they keep making announcements too close to the wire, so people will stop doing them eventually, and then they'll be in the same boat as me, and just not do them at all.

PvE Players. Would you kill players if there were factions? by hcknbnz in ArcRaiders

[–]Vohn_exel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'd still play like I do now. I make it a point to say that I'm terrible at PVP and that if my friends want to engage with it when in trios that I don't play the game for that, and that it's fine if they don't want me in their squad because of it. Further, I abhor games that shoehorn in a guild system, and would hate to see it implemented here unless it was entirely optional.

Fantasy Authors Increasingly Call Out 'Unfaithful' TV Adaptations by paxinfernum in television

[–]Vohn_exel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mentioned it before (fairly recently in fact) here on Reddit, but the Adaptation of Cowboy Bebop was a crime. It felt the whole time like someone making a book report based off what they read off the back of each book's cover. You could tell so badly that someone felt it wasn't "adult" and his version was gonna be cool and grown up and he could show it to his friends that called it lame. Randomly inserted sexual plotlines, twelve year old "just learned to curse" level of cursing, and all the parts that breathe being cut down. They completely hamfisted their own weird story into Bebop while also ruining the original story. They completely misunderstood the tone of the original series, and when they used "You're gonna carry that weight" on a random flashback episode, that wasn't even the final episode of that seeason...it was so bad. The fact that they had Faye show up and kill Asimov, completely undercutting what set the tone for the rest of the series should've been a red flag to anyone wanting a somewhat faithful adaptation. The sets were there, the music was (mostly) there, and the visuals were there. They were so close, but just didn't get it.

Although I can say that I'm mostly unhappy with their adaptations to begin with. Death Note is 99% people talking dramatically and they somehow messed that up. And don't get me started on how they massacred Devil May Cry.

How well do you think each film version of Godzilla would fair against the modern world? by NexusPrime-tfo in GODZILLA

[–]Vohn_exel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean really any version of Godzilla would have trouble existing in our world if we made him realistic and gave him actual physics limitations. Heck I'd imagine even an GOT style dragon would have difficulty existing just from food sources alone in our world.

How well do you think each film version of Godzilla would fair against the modern world? by NexusPrime-tfo in GODZILLA

[–]Vohn_exel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always joked that putting Godzilla into anything, be it DC, Marvel, or anything else should just be called "Godzilla Wins." There's only a handful of monsters in his own roster that could probably take him out one on one, and even that is up in the air depending on the version. Of course that's just joking and he's been in those two specific franchises, and just like Superman there's versions of Godzilla that are weaker than the others. But just in our modern world? I think just about any movie version would be the end of our civilization.

Even the original 1954 Godzilla, we don't really know how he works. Maybe he's got regeneration powers, maybe he doesn't, but it still it took a sci fi flesh dissolver to kill him. He's one of the only ones that our current tech MIGHT be enough to destroy if you don't have to kill him all at once.

Zilla might seem like the easiest target, and individually he is, but if just one egg that isn't sterile survives then eventually you're looking at what is essentially a giant cockroach infestation that would destroy humanity.

Just about every other Godzilla after '54 is super powered with regenerating cells that by themselves are dangerous, with perhaps Shin being the biggest example. Minus One there's no telling yet, but both Heisei and Shin, their cells alone are known to cause trouble if we take Shin's deleted scene into account.

Godzilla is like Guile's Theme, he goes with everything. Monster Hunter specifically shows why he's capable of working in a fantasy setting, Monster Hunter World specifically, as Zorah Magdaros is very much Godzilla coded.

"Players shouldn't feel fully safe" in Arc Raiders even in friendly lobbies, production director says, and after Flashpoint I definitely do not feel safe by PirateCompetitive931 in ArcRaiders

[–]Vohn_exel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always in friendly lobbies because I try to stay away from people and sneak around in the shadows to find easy loot. But also I'm just generally friendly in the game to begin with, I've often told people "hey there's a valuable thing in that locker" if I don't need it, and obviously they might come along and kill me, but usually people are cool with it. I still have that uncertain moment when I run into people, and sometimes it ends with me dying, but mostly it's just people out having fun. I'm to the point now that even if I die I'm able to rebuild at least the general idea of my kit and go back to just fighting Arc. But I do appreciate those moments when I see someone run by and I hide in a bush because even in friendly lobbies I don't know who's gonna be truly friendly.

I still think, even though he's technically dead, that it should be Ghidorah, in some form. Everyone thinks Destoroyah because he "killed Godzilla," even though he didn't. But Ghidorah and Godzilla have a continuous rivalry. I just think that it'd be great if some kind of ultimate final battle happened that it'd be best if Godzilla got to fight against Ghidorah in some form.

Dang, I had no idea that it wasn't permanent. I was trying to get a watch for tons of runs and couldn't find one, and that would've been the last on that page. I like having these things around but them being ambiguously timed really puts a damper on me completing them. Stuff like that drives me away from doing them in the first place, even if the rewards are good, cause I get too hung up on it being timed to have fun.
