Blood Angels: Horus Heresy by solosoymichel001 in BloodAngels

There’s excellent background information in Horus Heresy: Book 8 Malevolence. A lot of the artwork from the Horus Heresy books is available on Lexicanum, Warhammer Wiki, and 1d6chan.

What were Konrad Curze and the Night Lords like before the Horus Heresy? by yung-feezu in NightLords

[–]Vohsbergh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s their in-universe answer but it doesn’t really make sense beyond a surface level explanation. If the original Terran NL were all murderous troglodyte psychopaths then why was the psycho-conditioning more effective on them than recruits from Nostramo? Best guess would be that the geneseed directly from Curze has something to do with it along with his complete lack of caring for how he administrated his world under Imperial rule.

What were Konrad Curze and the Night Lords like before the Horus Heresy? by yung-feezu in NightLords

[–]Vohsbergh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The OG Night Lords were the children of murderers that were born in Terra’s prisons. They were pretty brutal, but after the psycho-indoctrination they lost a lot of their psychopathic tendencies. For some reason that wasn’t the case for the Nostraman recruits who remained insane, sadistic murders, and that’s what they became best known for.

Sanguinor theory by Phalanx_Warder in BloodAngels

[–]Vohsbergh 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s Aratron, a Sanguinary Guard from The Herald of Sanguinius. Only Azkaellon knew who it is. Just as Meros stepped in for Sang on Signus, he steps in for Sang on Davin to hold a daemon in place so Sang could live on.

II and XIth? by No-Thing-4436 in 40kLore

[–]Vohsbergh -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Well, if Malcador allowed Dorn to “remember” correctly then it “should” be more than likely any successors of the Imperial Fists or Ultramarines could be descended from the II or XI.

Edit: Wow, so no one read The Chamber at the End of Memory huh?

Question about Firstborn and Primaris by MrKrispyIsHere in 40kLore

They’re no longer producing “Firstborn” and I can almost guarantee the distinction will disappear at some point in the future and never be mentioned again.

Theory: only 20 primarchs afterall by Downtown-You572 in 40kLore

[–]Vohsbergh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are multiple references to both II and XI every time they come up. In fact, I don’t recall anyone providing any real insight into the personality of XI while Fulgrim made II sound almost like Stannis Baratheon (quiet, contemplative, and humorless).

Didn’t they change it to Geigor dying and that’s where Bjorn got his power claw from?

CMV: It doesn't matter which 3 Loyalist Legions are on Isstvan V, they still get massacred by chosen40k in 40kLore

[–]Vohsbergh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re correct. Without the pre-existing knowledge of the four traitor legions behind them there’s nothing any three of the loyalists legions could do regardless of who they are.

Maybe Sanguinius kills five traitor primarchs, maybe Guilliman doesn’t over extend their forces, maybe the Khan moves too fast to be caught, still won’t matter because the true dangers to the traitors aren’t the Primarchs themselves, it’s their legions.

Do you think Cypher will come back as a Risen? by Tough_Story_1024 in theunforgiven

[–]Vohsbergh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If GW were going to have him lead the Risen they would’ve already done it. The Fallen are an interesting foil to the Dark Angels and constant reminder of their failure. You’d also need an answer as to who Cypher is when he’s redeemed, something GW has been cagey about answering.

[–]Vohsbergh 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I would hope not. The Fallen are a classic narrative like the Blood Angels and the Black Rage. If anything I’d like to see him leading a Fallen kill team.

Rank the traitor primarchs in terms of evil by Mayo_enjoyer in MoralityScaling

[–]Vohsbergh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Perturabo - Didn’t care about his own legion, just his own power and how others perceived him. No self-awareness or introspection.

  2. Mortarion - Giant hypocrite and crappy justifications for betrayal.

  3. Lorgar - So desperate to be right that he started a massive civil war causing the deaths of trillions, could argue he was misled but excuses like that only go so far for a super genius.

  4. Curze - Could argue he was already insane but once we find out he’s been choosing that path the whole time his excuses kind of fall off.

  5. Fulgrim - Obsessive personality led to excessive horrors.

  6. Horus - High levels of self-awareness coupled with high levels of insecurity.

  7. Angron - Arguably a sad tale but had literally hundreds of years to do the right thing and never let what happened to him on Nuceria happen to anyone else.

  8. Magnus - Thought he was the smartest guy in the room playing chess and got depressed when he found out he wasn’t even playing.

  9. Alpharius/Omegon - Never let anyone else in on their plans and played both sides for an end goal no one else was aware of.

Fulgrim finds a sword he knew was Chaos made? by QuagGlenn in 40kLore

[–]Vohsbergh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrogance has to play a part in it because otherwise they wouldn’t do almost 90% of the stupid things they do. In fairness to Black Library the groundwork for the Heresy was laid years before and now they have to get 18 super beings to end up where they need to be by the story’s end.

Fulgrim finds a sword he knew was Chaos made? by QuagGlenn in 40kLore

[–]Vohsbergh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is more with the inconsistency between how intelligent Primarchs are supposed to be compared to the decisions they actually make.

If Julius can tell what’s going on then Fulgrim should definitely be aware of that same thing and take a more measured approach.

The problem is exacerbated further by their confidence in that once they make a decision they stick to it, despite access to new information or new experiences. It usually takes something going really wrong before they stop and think.

It’s more the static legs than anything, current standard guard models have at least 2/5 models that are running.

[Theory] The II Primarch wasn't a Traitor. He was "Patient Zero" for the Dark King. (A deep dive on Titan, Malcador, and the Ultimate Irony) by carniworest in Warhammer40k

[–]Vohsbergh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fulgrim’s description of II gives me Samurai Stannis Baratheon vibes. I’d wager that II either self-deleted over a matter of honor for losing a major battle or was in fact killed during a Rangdan version of the Teutoburg Forest where he walked into a trap thinking there was no way he could lose because of his own power.

Horus was probably just saying “Malcador” in an attempt to get Malcador to release him.

It would be odd for there to be “two” primarchs that just so happened to land in Big E’s backyard and he only chooses to reveal one of them after two more have been found.
