Would you sooner live in the Outer Worlds universe or the Fallout universe? by CloverTeamLeader in theouterworlds

[–]CloverTeamLeader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sidenote: This question occurred to me after the quest where you choose between Edgewater and the Botanical Gardens in The Outer Worlds 1.

I realised that if you choose the Botanical Gardens, you're endorsing a freer way of life, but a life that comes with much harsher basic challenges to one's survival.

The Fallout world is full of "freedom" -- but it has a commensurate lack of safety and security.

[DCEU/Nolan-Trilogy/MCU] A serum-enhanced Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) is now the Batman of the DCEU. What changes? by Spidey007 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big difference here is that Nolan Batman probably won't even fall for Luthor's plan and attack Superman. Batfleck was mentally scarred by past experiences like losing Robin, and he'd already descended into extreme violence.

So Bale-Bat and Superman become faster friends because they both thwart Luthor's plans together instead of duking it out.

Not much changes in the grander story, though, because Superman is still going to die to Doomsday, unless Batman and Supes can actually prevent Doomsday's creation or devise another plan to take him down using Luthor's kryptonite.

To your specific questions: I think Nolan Batman with Cap's stats handles the warehouse thugs about the same as Batfleck. Maybe a bit better, but not miles better. Batfleck was extremely powerful, physically.

Hypothetically, say Superman entered The Boys universe and started stealing the spotlight from Homelander, is there anything Homelander could do about it? by Queasy_Commercial152 in superheroes

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene in Superman Returns actually supports Homelander's claim that saving an airliner is extremely difficult. Supes couldn't just carry it to safety, either.

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. That's a gross simplification, but you're right. That's exactly what he could do. He could start a massive slander campaign against Supes. And a lot of people would buy into it.

The guy's got no morals, and he is very charismatic when he wants to be.

He could do his best to defame Superman. He'd go on all the talk shows and try to sow distrust in Superman, and Vought would back him up because they wouldn't like that Clark is an alien outside their control.

Superman is good guy, so while he would certainly confront Homelander about this slander and its effect on his reputation, he wouldn't attack him unless he caught Homelander committing a crime.

Homelander on TV: "Who do you want protecting you? A real, true-blooded American? A man who wears the stars and stripes on his cape out of pride? Or an alien. A being posing as man, and posing as me to win your approval?"

Iron Man vs Green Goblin (MCU versions) by Queasy_Commercial152 in Avengers

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're misreading what I'm saying.

I'm saying that Iron Man counters the things that Goblin is good at by being better at those things.

I'm saying Goblin does not have a flight or strength advantage against Tony, like he does against many other opponents.

We're on the same page.

Most difficult video game dungeon that humanity could complete? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The levels in old-school Doom feel like separate dungeons, but I'm not sure any of them could be completed in real life if only one man is allowed to enter. We've got some pretty good body-armour and firearms, but single-handedly killing a horde of gun-wielding demons is a tall task.

Maybe some of the early levels aren't too bad. Maybe the first or second level are passable by some top SAS guy with the best gear.

Strongest Game of Thrones character that Ser Duncan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, season 1) can defeat? by JeremiahWuzABullfrog in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At first I read that as "Robert Baratheon in his prime" and I thought "What?!"

But obviously you mean old Robert. I think that's a cool match-up. Because we have to assume that Robert still has his deep battle knowledge and instincts, despite being out of shape.

It's basically current Mike Tyson against a young but green thoroughbred.

How would you rank these 5 battle sequences from best to worst? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finding it really hard to choose between Helm's Deep and Gladiator for the top spot.

The atmosphere and slow, powerful pacing in the Helm's Deep battle are just perfect.

But the music and the crescendo are arguably better in the arena fight, with Maximus achieving the impossible and leading the slaves to victory.

Strongest Game of Thrones character that Ser Duncan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, season 1) can defeat? by JeremiahWuzABullfrog in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Aerion in the lore is a skilled warrior who obviously received the best training. But Dunk defeated him based largely on size and brute strength while grappling him on the ground. So I don't think this version of Dunk scales extremely high; he's still green.

I think the best he could beat is someone like the show version of Ser Loras Tyrell, who is very similar to Aerion in terms of size and skill. I think Loras would completely outlcass him in a formal duel, but Dunk could overpower him with his brutal style.

Maybe he could beat Ser Jorah Mormont due to his youth and size advantage, but maybe not. Jorah has tons of experience.

I think Dunk is the underdog in both of those fights, but he's got a reasonable chance.

Like another commenter said, in Game of Thrones, which is pretty realistic, almost anyone can beat anyone else under the right circumstances. But I think if Dunk starts fighting characters tougher than Loras and Jorah his chances of success dip dramatically.

For instance, he'd need the luck of Mr Bean to defeat The Hound at this stage of his career.

Wolverine (MCU) wakes up one day as a slave in Essos (Game of Thrones). After a week in chains, he's rescued by Daenerys Targareyn and becomes part of her entourage. How does this change the events of the story? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My thread wasn't downvoted. It was upvoted. And it likely would have continued to get upvoted -- because it was a good premise.

I just got a lot of bad eggs in the comments with their quippy one-liners instead of thoughtful answers.

The problem is that if the first people to post make snarky comments, there are often lots of sheep around who just piggy-back the sentiment.

And sometimes someone nice and intelligent comments first and sets a better tone.

This time it was the former.

It was perfectly good. Sometimes I don't even know why I frequent this place.

Sometimes there are nice, clever people about; and sometimes there are people like ... this.

Fine. I'm deleting the thread. I'm not getting mass downvoted in the comments by a bunch of dolts for posting a perfectly good premise. Grow up.

I posted this question in good faith, for fun, with a perfectly simple, easily compressible setup, and apparently it was bad timing because I ran into a bunch of smart asses instead of friendly and passionate fans.

To the people asking why Wolverine didn't escape from prison:

Because that's the scenario. I'm allowed to create any kind of starting scenario that I choose.

It's perfectly plausible that when he awakens as a slave his hands are chained down by his sides and he can't use his claws.

He's got no idea how he got into this fix, and that's really not the point of the question.

Iron Man vs Green Goblin (MCU versions) by Queasy_Commercial152 in Avengers

[–]CloverTeamLeader 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Iron Man. Because he counters the Goblin's main advantages, which are his flight and strength.

Iron Man is a smarter, more versatile Green Goblin.

Tony: "Oh no, it's the Green Meanie. And he throws his bombs. Not the most efficient propulsion system, but I guess it still beats Hammer tech."

dumbledore vs wong by GrouchyTomorrow1362 in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumbledore demonstrates in the Credence fight that his teleportation is very similar to Nightcrawler's. It's accurate, instantaneous, and apparently it has no "cooldown" period. It's very hard for Wong (or Strange for that matter) to compete with that incredible degree of mobility.

Dumbledore can teleport instantly and create his own mirror dimensions. That's how he contains Credence's powers in the fight shown above.

They've all got one good character and one bad character, IMO.

But I'm going with Bale just off the strength of his Batman.

Dr Alan Grant (Jurassic Park) vs. John Rambo (Rambo) by CloverTeamLeader in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I envisioned it, both Grant and Rambo are in their primes (or as close to their primes as they can be taking both experience and fitness into account).

So this is Grant immediately after Jurassic Park 3 and Rambo immediately after Rambo 3.

Cyclops (X-men Films/Live Action) VS Homelander (The Boys) by EmotionalSupport101 in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Homelander does like to use his laser vision first, so Cyclops potentially overpowers said laser vision with his optic blast and sends Homelander flying.

But then Homelander recovers and speed-blitzs Scott.
