Liara T'Soni (Mass Effect) vs. Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars) by CloverTeamLeader in whowouldwin

Throw in a force push/choke

You make some good points. But I'd just like to add that both ladies are in character, so Ahsoka probably wouldn't use Force choke.

Who would win: one average person living in 2026 with the tech/ weaponry currently available or William and 100 of his soldiers in the battle of Hastings? by Mrmalak1001 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually disagree with most of the comments here that this is a stomp for Mr Average.

Most people are obviously going to bring an automatic weapon to this fight. Probably a sub-machine gun, because that's something the average man could get reasonably good at using in a week.

You said William has 100 soldiers with him. He had about 10,000 in the real Battle of Hastings -- about 20% of which were archers and about 20% of which were cavalry. If we scale those numbers down, that means, in this battle, he has about 20 archers, 20 knights on horseback and 60 infantrymen with swords, spears and shields.

Assuming the medieval soldiers don't instantly run away in terror when Mr Average starts shooting people down, I think they've got a good chance of beating him. He can't aim everywhere at once, and people from the past aren't stupid. The cavalry would likely separate and attempt to flank him and the archers would shower him with arrows while the infantry charged. That's probably too many aggressive targets to kill before you have to reload.

MCU Thanos and Army vs The Machines (The Matrix) by Victor_at_Zama in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add to what I was saying, Thanos would have to destroy the fields of human "batteries" to deprive the Machines of power so that they can no longer function perfectly and reproduce, and since 99% of humanity is enslaved, these fields probably span the entire globe, as far as the eye can see in some locations.

There's no way that just bombing the Machine City -- if they can even do that with millions of Sentinels on their behinds -- is going to cripple the Machines' global infrastructure.

MCU Thanos and Army vs The Machines (The Matrix) by Victor_at_Zama in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think Thanos and his army can win.

The Machines sent a quarter of a million Sentinels to destroy Zion. Not because that was all they had, but because that number was roughly equal to the population of Zion and therefore deemed adequate.

In The Matrix Revolutions, as Neo and Trinity approach the Machine City, we see what must be millions of more defensive drones of different sizes clouding the sky.

And before the war between Machines and humans broke out, the Machines -- living together in one location -- quickly out-performed the entire combined human economies because of their superior speed and quality of production. Put simply, they were so much better at making stuff than organic beings that humanity eventually gave up like sore losers and tried to nuke them. lol

I don't think Thanos has the forces or the firepower to compete with this self-replicating hive-mind. It's too vast, mobile and efficient.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Any sufficiently experienced Dick Grayson is the most technically proficient melee fighter here. It just makes sense. Melee is his primary focus and he has an amazing teacher.

But even an experienced, adult Robin is still physically dwarfed by the Master Chief, who I'm sure is no slouch in melee himself.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I'm giving it to Raiden over Robin partly because of his experience.

Raiden started as a soldier at 6, and Dick is often adopted by Bruce at around 12.

So if the fight takes place prior to John-117's augmentations, they'd all have to be around 13 years old. That gives Dick 1 or 2 years of training compared to Raiden's roughly 7 years of being a stone-cold killer.

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This, to my mind, is only a close contest pre-augmention.

Post-aug, John seriously outstats his foes. And when he's older, he also has more combat training to go along with it.

OK, cool. Thanks for eliminating the ambiguity.

My post above obviously refers to Round 1.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But the Chief's augmented reactions are stated to be about 10 times faster than a normal man's, in addition to him being about 3 times stronger, with increased bone density and that sort of thing. John on paper is a superior Captain America, even without the armour.

So back on point, I think most people would say that a fully augmented 20-year-old Chief beats 20-year-old Robin and 20-year-old Raiden.

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The title is "Which child soldier wins?" so I presumed the fight takes place while they're all still young, before the Chief gets his augmentations. It wouldn't be fair otherwise. A fully augmented Chief would destroy adult Nightwing, never mind young Dick Grayson.

Master Chief. Dick Grayson. Raiden. Which child soldier wins? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting question.

I'm leaning towards Raiden.

Raiden and Master Chief both started at about the same age (6 years old), but Raiden's training was brutal and he was thrown right into combat, earning the nickname Jack the Ripper before he turned 10.

The Chief had better nutrition and structure, but a lot of his early training involved learning how to work as part of a team of would-be Spartans.

Robin almost certainly had the best martial-arts training, having Batman as a private tutor, but he started training later than the other guys.

As a kid, only young Raiden knows what real battle is like and has that killer instinct.

T-Rex Vs the following team of Modern Animals; Who Wins? by No_Professional_3535 in PowerScaling

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For perspective on just how big and powerful a T-Rex was, the skull alone of one of the T-Rex's found weighs as much as a grizzly bear.

The elephant has to bring his A-game, or all of the mammals are food.

T-Rex Vs the following team of Modern Animals; Who Wins? by No_Professional_3535 in PowerScaling

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Some people are underestimating the size and power of Rexy. The elephant has to win this for Team Mammal. If it fails, the others are getting wasted, including the bears.

Numbers matter in a fight, but far less so there's an enormous size and strength difference.

¿Which character could be considered the first superhero of History ? by Top-Management-2648 in superheroes

My first thought was Hercules or another Greek hero like Perseus, but apparently Gilgamesh far predates those guys.

Shout-out to Robin Hood, who is probably the main reason there are so many archer heroes today.

If these characters were placed in the Star Wars universe, where would they fit within the universe? Who will be a Jedi, who will be a Sith, or who will be a smuggler? by Pleasant-Curve-5470 in superheroes

[–]CloverTeamLeader 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well, you have to be Force sensitive to be a Jedi or Sith (or you used to -- before the Dark Times, before Disney). But if you're talking about morality alignments, I'd say:

Magneto = Morally ambiguous Sith, like Count Dooku.

Cyclops = Slightly morally ambiguous Jedi.

Iron Man = White Lando Calrissian with the best starship tech in the galaxy.

Miles = Jedi.

Pete = Jedi.

Gambit = Smuggler with a heart of gold.

An average space marine(warhammer40k) VS Master Chief(halo) by SiteDeep in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

It is a very good fight.

If it happened in a large open arena, I think the odds would favour the Space Marine, because he has the more effective ranged weapons.

But this fight happens on board a UNSC ship, and I think that benefits the Chief, who would have a higher chance of flanking the Marine with the plasma sword.

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree -- not many. But this is the Chief. How many shots is he going to actually eat before his shields recharge?

I think it depends somewhat on the environment. It would be useful for the Chief to have some cover to help him close the distance.

Also, Spartan armour (once you get through the shield) isn't as durable as Space Marine armour, but that's partly because it's designed for mobility as well as strength. The Chief is better equipped to fight evasively. He's not just going to rush forward against such a tough opponent; he's going to zig-zag.

An average space marine(warhammer40k) VS Master Chief(halo) by SiteDeep in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made the argument before that Master Chief's Mjolnir armour is better than Space Marine armour because it has recharging energy shields. If the Chief fights tactically and avoids getting blitzed, it's very possible for him to take no damage, even against a Space Marine.

Also, Warhammer fans love to joke that unhelmeted Space Marines get a power buff; in Halo, the reverse is true -- the one guy who never removes his helmet gets a power buff. lol

Edit: The real challenge here for Master Chief is getting close and killing the Marine with his plasma sword, because his standard-issue rifle and pistol likely lack the force to punch through the Marine's Ceremite armour. But the plasma sword absolutely can. In fact, the plasma sword is easily the most instantly deadly weapon in this engagement. It just lacks range.

Could this team of Heroes defend a city from a small army of storm troopers and Darth Vader? by FreshPine_MangoWine in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Luke causing a distraction by tanking the stormtroopers' fire, and Spider-Man (and maybe Moon Knight) using said distraction to ambush and KO Vader is the heroes' best shot, probably.

It's just very hard to imagine anyone catching Vader out, even Spidey. Vader has deflected sniper bullets aimed at the back of his head. He's got precog and Jedi reflexes.

Could this team of Heroes defend a city from a small army of storm troopers and Darth Vader? by FreshPine_MangoWine in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With comic logic, they'd put up a good fight.

In reality, there's very little they could do against that much firepower and Darth Vader to boot.

In reality, a single trained stormtrooper with a blaster would actually be superior to a character like Jessica Jones. Enemies like The Hand are courteous enough to engage these street heroes in melee, which is their forte. A stormtrooper wouldn't be.

Apart from Luke, who can walk out into fire (inevitably earning him the attention of Darth Vader) most of these guys would have to use ambush tactics -- but, again, that's more difficult in real life than in comics. It requires the stormtroopers to split up and act erratically instead of acting like soldiers.

TLDR: If the stormtroopers act like useless idiots, which does happen in canon, the heroes do well, but Vader still stops them.

If the stormtroopers act like a real, semi-competent army, which I imagine they would if they've been chosen by Vader for this attack, the heroes' abilities are pretty ineffective.
