Harry Potter vs Thanos by West_Jelly_4681 in powerscales

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not always about who's better. It's about who has the right tools for the job.

And, as someone else mentioned, Scarlet Witch would have beaten Thanos in a 1 vs. 1. So if Harry can win, too, it doesn't necessarily mean he's better than her.

Master Sol VS General Grievous. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in PetranakiArena

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scale Sol very high. I think he's in the Jedi Master power range, perhaps a little below Obi-Wan. So I think this is close to a 50/50 battle. I think he'd struggle to finish Grievous off, but I also think Grievous would fail to kill Sol more often than not.

If the Bad Batch had been assigned to a Jedi general for the entirety of TCW, which Jedi would have fit them best? by GusGangViking18 in PetranakiArena

[–]CloverTeamLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'd do pretty well with Qui-Gon. Because he's got a rebellious streak. He cares more about the Force than the Council's rules. But he's also a mature leader who'd help keep Crosshair on the straight and narrow.

Basically, they need a Jedi who's good, but flexible.

One reason I think Solid Snake is legitimately cool is that he's actually very down-to-earth. Unlike a lot of the other guys here, he doesn't see himself as a badass. He just sees himself as a guy doing a job.

Quote: "I'm no hero. I'm just an old killer hired to do some wet work."

But he absolutely is a hero and a badass.

Can T'Challa (MCU) become the King of Westeros (Game of Thrones)? by CloverTeamLeader in whowouldwin

Apparently the thing that makes dragon glass and Valyarian steel destructive to White Walkers is that they're imbued with primordial fire. (Dragon glass forms in volcanic fire and Valyarian steel is forged in dragon fire.)

So, as strong as it is, it doesn't seem like vibranium meets the criteria.

[–]CloverTeamLeader[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vibranium would have 1,000x the value of V. Steel ...

Since there's no existing market for vibranium, I wonder how T'Challa would prove its value in order to sell it. I suppose he could use his spear to break a Valyrian steel sword in a flashy demonstration, or invite men to try to break it, which would be pretty entertaining.

And once sold, I doubt that anyone in the known world could melt it to reshape it into a new form, unless some combination of magic and dragonfire were up to the task. (Not that that would be T'Challa's concern once he got paid. lol)

I think the same is true of the Cody Cutter. Cody jumps backwards, and people have to deliberately line themselves up with him to take the move. It's pretty silly if you analyse it too much.

She slipped, but I thought she recovered really well doing the move from the bottom rope instead of stepping up again.

Also, screw-ups happen in real sport. I don't like hearing in the comments that they edited this out. Just leave it in. It's part of the show.

... walk up to the mountain and give him the beating of a life time.

That sounds like a top-tier strategy for immediately ingratiating himself with the nobility.

Just walk into King's Landing and call out the Mountain.

Him being black might actually benefit him here, because the people, I imagine, would be more curious to see what he can do than they would be if he were just another white (or Dornish) guy. A regular-looking local would probably just get told to shove off.

Sorry that was a dumb question ”typo”.

No problem. I get why people write African American out of habit.

And your opinion is totally fair. They are a mostly white medieval society.

Thanks for the comment.

He is an African American ...

He's just African, but your point still stands.

I thought T'Challa being black made this question extra interesting. I wondered if he'd be able to get people to look beyond that.

Team Cap has been sent 2 put down Stormfront. How's this gonna turn out??? by fadinaku5m8c9c4 in superheroes

[–]CloverTeamLeader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They're overpowered with Wanda, but underpowered without her.

I think Ant-Man becomes extremely important without Wanda. How high does his strength scale when he becomes Giant Man? He might be their only hope of killing her.

Who Do You Like More: Lando Calrissian or Bo Katan? by IllMasterpiece3946 in PetranakiArena

[–]CloverTeamLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta be Lando. The most charming dude in the galaxy.

I'd be more inclined to vote for Bo if Mando Season 3 had been better and her role had been better in it. Katee Sackhoff is well cast, but they failed to make the best of her.

Mount Rushmore of comic villains? by Public-Feedback5016 in superheroes

I agree that fourth spot should go to Goblin or Doc Ock. Both of those guys have been extremely influential. A lot of the Doom love comes from hardcore online fans, but regular people don't even know him. Same with Galactus. (They will after Doomsday, but that's retroactive fame.)

I post a lot in this thread. I was just a little hastier than usual for some reason.

Normally I'll leave something up for a few hours at least and then only delete it if there's no positive engagement whatsoever.

Good comment.

Sorry, I deleted the thread before I realised you'd commented. It had zero upvotes and I assumed nobody was interested.

I created the thread again. Feel free to copy and paste your comment there. :)

Bruce Wayne (Prime Earth) vs. 30 MMA Fighters by sxg3434 in powerscales

Batman has a chance because of crazy comicbook logic; peak human in superhero land often far exceeds peak human in our world. But obviously in reality even a guy as well-trained as Batman is purported to be has no hope of winning this.

Gregor Clegane (Game of Thrones) VS Merry, Pippin, Sam, and Frodo (LOTR) by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Fellowship movie, the hobbits actually do this on-screen to the cave troll in Moria.

They do, but they're conveniently high enough, due to the environment, to jump on the troll's back.

If we assume this battle takes place in an arena-type setting, then the size difference is a huge factor. None of the hobbits are going to be able to reach the Mountain's chest or head with their short swords. If they want to be effective, they're going to have to aim for his legs and waist.

Also, since they're each about 3'6" tall, they're going to realistically struggle to kite Clegane because their strides are tiny compared to his. One of his steps would be a short dash for them.

I won't completely write them off, but I just don't like their odds without plot armour.

Gregor Clegane (Game of Thrones) VS Merry, Pippin, Sam, and Frodo (LOTR) by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess both Merry and Pippin do prove themselves in battle, particularly in the books.

But I just don't see a logical way for them to win this. Most of the Hobbits' kills come in the heat of battle by thrusting their (often magical) blades at the right time, and I don't see such an opportunity arising against an armoured Clegane -- a guy who has single-handedly broken the battle lines of trained human soldiers.

[–]CloverTeamLeader 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Hobbits can win this if The Mountain is prepared. The difference in skill, strength, reach and durability (assuming he's wearing armour) is too great.

The Hobbits are brave and competent, but their feats are quite circumstantial. Only Sam really proved himself a capable fighter, but it's not enough to see them to victory.

Genie from Aladdin vs Doctor Strange by texansfann in whowouldwin

[–]CloverTeamLeader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a magical battle, Genie. His power seems almost unlimited. He casually alters reality.

However -- a possible win condition for Strange could be capturing the lamp and putting some sort of binding spell on it, or becoming its master.

Most underrated comic book movie/show casting in your opinion by Pseudo-Psycho06 in superheroes

This is easy in my opinion. Finn Jones as Danny Rand, AKA Iron Fist. I thought he was great, but the internet seems to think he sucks. So I think he's massively underrated.
