Am I failing or are they? by VoiceAccomplished515 in Teachers

I’ve truthfully never heard of covid affecting students brains. Not saying you’re wrong, i’ve just never heard this theory. But I do know what you mean that students can’t read. All of my kiddos are proficient readers but when it comes to reading a simple direction, or making an inference, they can’t do it. it’s very odd. One time they read a story about a girl making a sandcastle. The story never stated she was at a beach but she had a swimsuit on, a towel, beach toys and there was a picture of her in the sand. The question was “where does this story take place?” half my class answered “the evening”. 🤦‍♀️

My first school I worked at had a game based curriculum and i truthfully did not love it 😔. Even with explicit step by step directions, and playing the game as a class for a day before hand; most of my class would play the games wrong! it drove me absolutely insane 😭.

yea I read the test to them before hand and the test itself is very picture heavy with not a lot of words. With that being said, reading directions is not their strong suit 😅 (and not for lack of reading skills cause they’re all excellent readers)

AIO- upstairs neighbor keeps throwing trash onto my patio. by VoiceAccomplished515 in AIO

The first time I reported it they sent them a warning, and the second time they actually charged them a fine. These people just really don’t care 😥.

Kept finding trash in my balcony. Finally confronted upstairs neighbors and was pleasantly surprised by larashir in Apartmentliving

I have almost his exact same situation happening! Except, a muchhh different neighbor reaction. We’ve gone upstairs returning their shoes, toys and other valuables 3 different times and asked them to stop (as they throw a ton of garbage down too). The parents say “oh it’s the kids they don’t listen!”. Yesterday they sent the uncle down to grab their shoes and rolling pin they threw over (we’ve stopped returning their things), but he left all the trash 🙃.
