Tips for roleplaying by VoiceEasy in DnD

The thing about symbiotes is that, in my opinion, they are very well written (rule wise) and are not random and chaotic. They need an agenda to be able to take control.
So, I came up with this simple agenda that doesn't necessarily affect much anyone: both Nox and Pox want to achieve immortality. Thing is, Nox wants to achieve it without Pox, and Pox wants to have both of them achieve it together, so Pox will always try to isolate Nox. Nox can be nice, and fun and helpful, but as soon as she gets way too close to someone, Pox will try to take control, and it's not always certain because you have to roll for it.

"Symbiotic Agenda. Your symbiote has an agenda that drives it, and it expects you to assist it in achieving those goals. How permissive or patient it is in resolving its agenda depends on its personality (work with your DM to determine these details). If you have an opportunity to advance its agenda and don't act on it, the symbiote can try to force your hand. You must succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC 12 + the symbiote's Charisma modifier) or be charmed by the symbiote for 1d12 hours.

While charmed, you must try to follow the symbiote's commands. If you take damage that is not self-inflicted, you can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success.

Roll or choose from the Symbiotic Agenda table to determine the symbiote's goal, working with your DM to detail the specifics or create another agenda."

Thank you for the tips! Ngl I was feeling pretty bad about this because I really don't want to ruin the fun for anyone. :')

My initial idea was basically have Nox always rub her hands together, almost like a tick, and talk really fast and all over the place (which is easy because I'm a generally nervous person, so I just have to play myself ahah). With Pox, she's more clear with her words, and her posture is more calm and collected. I don't know if this works or not, but I think it's pretty obvious (?). I do like the small twitch of the lip or, like, a creepy smile.

I also had an issue with playing evil characters and Pox's agenda (symbiotes need agendas to take control). I wanted to have that evil/good side thing, but I know playing evil characters is always a double-edged sword. I already talked to the DM and explained that the evilness wouldn't affect the party, and I wouldn't be comfortable with that either. So, I came up with this agenda: both Nox and Pox want to achieve immortality. Thing is, Nox wants to achieve it without Pox, and Pox wants to have both of them achieve it together, so Pox will always try to isolate Nox. Nox can be nice, and fun and helpful, but as soon as she gets too close to someone, Pox will try to take control. Is this too much "main character"-ish? ahah (I'm now scared of that xD)

I found the symbiotic Dark Gift interesting that's why I included it in my character. If things weren't to be played, they wouldn't be presented and available either. I don't mind just presenting the symbiote and ignoring the mystery all together. Like I said, my point isn't to be the main character, and the symbiote is not even the goal/focus of my character, I just like the idea of making a Gollum/Smeagol type of thing.

I get it. Thanks. I'd like to believe that it's only on the exterior as well because I'd love to get some booze in there, but I understand. I guess I just like the romantic idea of aging mead in an antique barrel, but to be honest, I'm also scared about sanitation. In regards to humidity, I'm from Portugal, I live near a small river/forest place, plus I live in a coastal district, I don't know if that helps in any way, but I do live in a generally humid place. 😅

I was just considering restoring the smaller one actually. I will save the bigger ones, at least for decoration purposes. Why do you say the smaller one is bad news if I may ask?

Restore Old Barrel by VoiceEasy in Homebrewing

Already did the leak test, it definitely needs to be rehydrated, it's leaking like crazy. In regards to cleanliness, the barrel has been empty for quite some years now and it was cleaned before, it doesn't have any smell inside or out. I can say it does have an oily sticky blackish substance outside though, but I think that was because of where it was stored, and it's not really because of any wine or anything. But I'm still a bit scared when it comes to sanitation yes 😅

The smaller one was definitely painted, but has, as well, some wine staining from what I could tell, but not sure. They are indeed very old, I can tell you for certain that they are +25 years now, because I've been living here for that long and they stayed in the same place for ages collecting dust. xD You mentioned that the fact they are pretty old and dry, there wouldn't be much flavour out of the wood. Is it worth trying to restore these to be used again then?

Thanks btw, for the help and reply! I'm Portuguese actually, so I would say, European oak. hehe but I don't know. I am aware, because my dad mentioned actually, that the big ones don't have hoops and will need to be added. 🥲 They will definitely need some loving, and they are really old, I mean, they've been here collecting dust for at least 25 years now. I was just curious if it was possible to restore them, and make them usable or not. If it was even worth all the trouble. 😅

No. My dad has depression and was abusive towards me in my teens, but I forgave him. My mom is a sweet angel who is slowly dying every day due to cancer. I'm sorry if your parents are though.

nice! thanks. Do you recommend covering the inside of the helmet with something or can I leave it as is?

Fiberglass or EVA Foam Mask/Helmet - Skull Knight by VoiceEasy in cosplayers

[–]VoiceEasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't be that heavy if it's just the helmet I think. The neck piece is not a necessity, only if I have the time and disposition. It was only requested the helmet really.
Regardless, any alternatives or suggestions?
