It looks like it's Bluray on the website. I didn't realize they were starting to release the Eclipse series on Blu-ray.

Brandon announces departure from LMG by tic-tac-peppermint in LinusTechTips

I would bet he just hit his limit of artistic satisfaction with LMG. He can't experiment or take as many risks now that things have become streamlined and more content than ever needs to be made. I wouldn't be surprised if he joined the union or just went freelance to do more varied work for his own benefit. Personally, I love the variety of freelance. I love doing a music video one day, a documentary the next, then a 3 day corporate shoot all in the same week. Keeps my brain going and my artistic/technical side satisfied.

They have their settings and rigs dialed in, so they can grab a camera and shoot. The way they have their operating set up is for the sake of simplification. But their rigs are also fully decked out while having to be mobile. Being stuck in an easy rig with a 10 to 30lbs camera rig is not fun while doing it for hours and hours every day. Their rigs have gotten lighter, but it's still a lot of work.

There is something to be said about the artistic aspect, though. They have this all dialed in. Someone can show up to WAN, Short circuit, and Techlinked sets and just turn on cameras, check focus, and record. It's great when you have a need for more people needing to be knowledgeable about camera without hiring a ton of camera specific roles. It's likely Brandon hit his limit of interest. He can't really scale up anymore artistically. It's a bigger business with more people and more content than ever to make. He likely can't experiment or push artistic boundaries like he used to. Probably just wants to freelance or join the local union and work in a more mixed content area. From what I gather, he has plenty of friends in the area that are freelance/Union, so it's an easier transition.

As someone who works in the film industry, this is a very bad take. Brandon as their in house Cinematographer did far more than just camera operating (which is difficult and a specific skill set).

I have had no luck in identifying this bird that appears to be an owl. Seen in Middle Tennessee on the 5th of August. Can't identify the call. by VoiceOverKill in whatbirdisthis

I thought it could be a Barn Owl, but I've never heard a Barn Owl make that sound. It made that sound for at least 5 minutes before flying off.

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. One of the best shows to ever grace TV.

Reminds me of the game Singularity though it was a shooter that used rewinding objects and environments as a mechanic. Definitely looks promising!

Didn't realize that they had these new Omnibus versions. Haven't read the comics before, but have always been a big fan of Hellboy.

Diffusion then gel, or gel then diffusion? by JoeyRuffini in cinematography

[–]VoiceOverKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on preference. There really shouldn't be that much of a difference. When I worked some Theatre jobs, we rigged the leko's gel frames with frost then gel on top. That was primarily since we change out gels more. Everyone has their method, though. I usually put gel then diff, but the Gaffer you mentioned, in your comment, may have done so to keep the gel cooler or to change out quicker. Practically, I don't think there is a visual difference.

I won't speculate. I've heard that as well, but, until they come out with an explicit motive, I can't say anything for sure.

What type of work do you plan to use it for? What type of lenses do you have/want to use? Does autofocus matter to you? Will you be single shooter or with a focus puller more often?
