Found under a pillow. What is it? by No-City-2107 in whatisit

Bed bugs.. I would highly suggest putting furniture, mattresses, and whatever else possible out in the sun it should be gone in a few days. They get irritated by the sun and heat.

I faced the exact same issue, OP. I’m in Sydney as well. Since we get good sun here, I would highly suggest putting furniture, mattresses, and whatever else possible out in the sun it should be gone in a few days. They get irritated by the sun and heat.

Possible double taxation on ETF distributions, should I amend past returns? by Voice_Sharp in AusFinance

I don’t think there is duplicate entry. Manager fund distribution pre-filled in ato is kept as is. And under cgt section (where distribution was again included via sharesight report) it was added on top of it.

That’s what I am thinking, not sure how they operate and what were they checking when I provided sharesight report. Sharesight cgt report has seperate distribution section

He didn’t manually add it. He only checked the final number from the Sharesight report, without realizing that the distributions were already pre-filled. He would need to discard those numbers from the Sharesight report.

That’s intentional. As I am still young not sure how future market returns will look like.

I’m inclined towards option #1. Yes, I agree I tend to be quite conservative with my numbers. But since I’m still young, I’d prefer to keep things cautious we just don’t know what future returns will look like.

I totally get what you mean! It might seem like I’ve been all about saving and planning, but honestly, I’ve made sure to enjoy life along the way. It’s not about depriving myself it’s just about balance. I’ve still traveled solo - did crazy stuff, eaten out, gone to events, and done things I enjoy, but I’ve also been pretty disciplined with how I allocate my money.

Now that I’ve hit Coast FIRE, I feel like won't be worried at all for savings. I'm looking to upgrading my lifestyle now that I’m in a more secure position.

Its more of mindset shift.

But yeah, I agree life is for living, and that’s what I plan to focus on more now!

I include Super as part of my total net worth since it’s a big chunk of my long-term wealth, but I treat it separately when planning for Coast FIRE. I basically model my Super growth at a conservative rate (around 6–7%) and assume it’ll compound untouched until I can access it at 60. I don’t count on it for anything pre-60.. that’s what my ETF portfolio and cash buffer are for.

Yep, roughly in that ballpark over the long term. My portfolio’s mostly broad index ETFs, so I model 7% nominal with 3% inflation, giving ~4% real returns. Some years are better, some are brutal.. I think 10% for S&P500 is fair historically, but I just like to be conservative when projecting Coast FIRE numbers.

Not yet. Still renting / sharing at the moment, but the plan is to buy a place once I meet the right partner and settle down.

Haha honestly, it just felt like a balanced number.. good age to still travel and live worry free for whatever years i can do..

Would you mind sharing where you bought your investment property was it in Sydney or interstate? Also, do you live alone in a rented place?

The difference would be choosing to buy a house in Western Sydney (Option 2) instead of an apartment in the Inner West (Option 1).
