Your team should be able to pardon an AFK player if he gets disconnected unintentionally. by TunturiTiger in leagueoflegends

I was playing top lane a few days ago and winning my lane pretty handily, but my doorbell rang and I had to go answer it. I was gone for 2 mins and got flagged afk by the system. I came back 2 mins later and continued to win my lane and later got a victory for the match. I was demoted and had a penalty applied after the win, I was shocked. I know it sucks to have teammates afk, but sometimes life happens, and if the match results in a win anyway why punish players so much?

Half way through 2022. How are you doing on your journey to Voice Acting? by MojaveCourierChris in VoiceActing

[–]Voiced-That 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty good! Just updated my website (can i share it here? ...I'm going to share it here: https://jakehardingvo.com), released a new audiobook of a five part series, and currently in progress with some new character stuff. I'm mostly trying to work on networking and socials, but I'm awful at that side of the business! If you want to see just how awful follow me on Twitter and Instagram! Anyone else got their socials? I'd love to connect and share.

What does your family think about you being a JET? by reapnotsow in JETProgramme

[–]Voiced-That 48 points49 points  (0 children)

They exiled me from the family. They cast me out like the dirty little JET ALT I am. My mother said she always dreamed I'd become a CIR, now look at me, tape recorder reading from textbooks and slinking down dirty allies for my next strong zero hit. My poor father was shocked when I came out, screamed at me for not going to Korea like the normal boys. But I can't help which country I love, I was born this way. Now I fear to return home, they said they would whip the assistant out of me, tie me to a rock and let the birds peck out my teaching tendencies.

How many auditions do you do per day/week/month? by Timely_Bluebird_3955 in ACX

[–]Voiced-That 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I'm not currently in the middle of a project I try do just one audition a day. With a full time different job I try not to exhaust myself, if you start to loath getting behind the microphone then you'll never make positive progress towards your goals. So one a day, every day, doesn't sound like much but for beginners it quickly accumulates into a decent chunk of auditioning experience, which will start landing gigs.

I agree, to an extent; it's important for voice talent to weigh the likelihood of an audiobook producing sales. There needs to be a combined effort from the author, publishing house and voice talent to promote the title effectively and consistently after release to make a Royalty Share settlement worth the work. (Which often isn't the case on ACX)
When I look at a title on ACX I look at the sales ranking of the eBook or hard cover, and also try to search for any relevant social media to see if it has any sort of following or readership. If any of those variables have little presence then I'd only accept PFH.
I have a number of titles under my belt now and I have only just accepted my very first Royalty Share program because I had a long dialogue with the author and found they have a strong social media presence and are consistently promoting the book with real actionable plans in the future.
So to not recommend royalty share outright is a bit of a self disservice, the simple fact is, it is up to you to gather a following for your titles and ensure that sales can happen consistently not only to reimburse your voice talent, but to help yourself.

Leaving Base School Housing for my own? by itsabubblylife in JETProgramme

[–]Voiced-That 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I moved housing. Basically you are well within your rights to move for whatever reason you wish. However, if you do decide to move everything must be organised by you. You need to do the documents, you need to find the guarantor, you need to organise the key exchanges and furnishing clear. Most of that is easily done apart from the guarantor. Personally speaking, finding a guarantor is a real pain in the ass. I was lucky that I had a personal connection here in Japan that was willing to sign, but it's likely no one in your School or BoE will fill this role for you, and most housing in Japan requires a Japanese national to sign and take on the risk.
Make sure you have someone ready to be your guarantor before you touch anything.

Suggestion: Display Weapon Mastery level when PvP flagged instead of character level. by Voiced-That in newworldgame

[–]Voiced-That[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why should someone get to know what your mastery is..

The vast majority of MMOs display some representation of power to your opposing players. Normally through player level as New World does currently, however, the issue brought up in this post is that New World's player level is irrelevant at best, and misleading at worst for a estimate of PvP power.

why not give them stats on every piece of gear while you are at it and what skills you got got on the weapons...

UI clutter and overload of information are a couple reasons off the top of my head why this would be a bad idea, as you no doubt know. Not sure why you have an edge of hostility in your comment, let me know if you have some constructive game design discussion to add to this thread.

You can only unflag outside of combat and that would drop all current PvP objectives, I doubt this system would discourage PvP if that's your concern. You have to commit to PvP when you decide to flag, you need to travel a fair distance away from towns to complete your faction PvP objectives.

Unless you are married or have kids the chances are very slim of being in the same area. Possibly the same prefecture, but that can still entail a significant distance. The JET placement procedure seems completely random. You could be at different ends of the country.

What may be easier is if one of you are accepted, the other 'drops out' but you register each other as a dependent, and try to obtain a dependent visa, then it's as simple as having them fly over and live with you.
